'With a façade as formidable as the fort’s (Galle Fort), this is an architect’s concept that combines the nautical with the historical and seems, only incidentally, to be built as a hotel. The entrance with flagstones and walls of granite seems like a medieval underground car park, contrast to the bright sunshine outside. A stairway – with a banister that is to be looked at not clutched, since it comprises a jagged tableau in brass and copper of heroic historical episodes' – spirals up a rotunda crowned with a glass dome…. Jun 15, 2008 : The lighthouse hotel was spectacular, to dine with waves crashing over rocks beneath you was an amazing experience. The rooms were spacious and modern, with brilliant views from the balcony. Staff were very polite and helpful throughout our stay. Facilities were excellent with a huge swimming pool and sunbathing area. Food and drink thought slightly more expensive than elsewhere were of an excellent quality, particularly the Sri Lankan curries which we loved.
