Formerly the village’s police house, the 1925 bungalow was bought in 2003 when Newman began the painstaking task of transforming it into the property it is today. The masterstroke in the bungalow’s reconstruction was to open up the front wall, creating a vast verandah whose unequalled view over the surrounding landscape is interrupted only by sturdy coconut pillars….. It would be easy to while away your entire stay at Rangala on that generous verandah….It is a scene that changes constantly. By day, there is something dreamy about the almost lunar landscape of the distant mountains as they recede in layers of fading outlines….From the west-facing verandah, guests are treated to the most magnificent sunsets over the jagged horizon
