Hotel Topaz is situated on a steep wooded hillside away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, the capital of Sri Lanka's hill country, yet barely a five-minute tuk-tuk ride from the centre of town. Here the tropical heat of the coast is exchanged for the verdant warmth of lush mountain slopes. Kandy's delightful lakeside setting and cultural heritage is an essential part of the Sri Lankan experience. The journey from Colombo's international airport will take up to four hours.
Introduction
Hotel Topaz provides a good option for those seeking mountain seclusion at a reasonable cost. Topaz’s captivating hillside views, can be fully enjoyed from the large windows of a bright, refurbished bar area, and from the restaurant on the floor above. The hillside views include the breathtaking Knuckles and Hunnas Giriya ranges, as well as Bible Rock.

Accommodation
There are a/c 75 a/c rooms including six suites. Facilities include satellite TV, DVD player, IDD telephone, internet facility, mini-bar or fridge, and room service. All rooms are furnished with double beds and writing desk and open out to a private balcony or deck.

Deluxe Rooms: Deluxe Rooms are equipped with all above facilities and have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.

Suites: The six Suites are more spacious and have a sitting area, mini-bar and tea/coffee making facility in addition to all other facilities described above. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers and bathtubs.
Facilities
The Roof Top restaurant with spectacular views, serves Sri Lankan rice and curries and western cuisine. There is a TV lounge with satellite TV, a night club, business centre, spa offering relaxing Ayurveda massages, swimming pool, tennis court, fitness centre, kid’s park, and shopping arcade with jewellery and souvenir shops.
Excursions
Several nature trails are organised by the hotel. The city of Kandy is steeped in history and culture. Interesting activities include: a visit to the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined; the Natha Devale, an ancient Hindagala cave temple that has a reclining Buddha statue, Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; Kandy's rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat weaving and Kandyan dancing and drumming.
