School Tour
Introduction
Cricket is a truly social sport. Red Dot’s School Tour hopes to use cricket as a tool to give school boys a cultural experience beyond that of an average tour. Over the course of 2 weeks, this trip tours some of the finest venues Sri Lanka’s highlands and south coast has to offer before the party are introduced into a community where you are encouraged to interact, help out and learn something of island life.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 1, 2, 3 & 4 Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Taj Samudra on the seafront. The hotel has top facilities for the cricketing tourist as well as an especially good Indian restaurant amongst others. The hotel is often used by touring international teams, and offers guests a high quality gym, as well as swimming pool and tennis court. Rest, recharge and prepare. Morning training at the nearby premier division side, Moors CC,  will help you adjust to Sri Lanka’s ground and climatic conditions in preparation for tomorrow’s game. Spend the rest of the day enjoying some of the delights of the island’s capital.

Day 3 is your MATCH 1 versus Muralitharan’s home club, Tamil Union CC, played at one of Colombo’s Test venues – the P. Sara International Stadium. The ground is renowned for its large balcony dressing room and reaper-clad scoreboard. Day 4 is an Academy Day. Rest up in the morning before an afternoon of training and first-class coaching session at a the NCC Cricket Academy.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 5, 6 & 7Travel from Colombo to Kandy in the morning. En route visit it the famous Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage. Arrive and be welcomed at the quiet riverside hotel - Chaaya Citadel. Take time to explore Kandy’s lakeside town, and visit Lord Buddha’s spectacular Temple of the Tooth. Day 6 is MATCH 2 versus Trinity College at Asigiriya Stadium. The ground plays host to Test Matches and Red Dot tourists alike. Back-to-back matches sees you travel south to one of Sri Lanka’s brand new venues Pallakelle, erected in preparation for the 2011 World Cup, for MATCH 3.

Sri Lanka Tours Day 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12Head for the Galle coast and on to Hikkaduwa. En route, stop off to raft the rapids at Kittulgala. By late afternoon, arrive at Seenigama village, found a few kilometres north of Hikkaduwa. You are staying in the Seenigama school grounds in predominantly dormitory-style accommodation, which has established itself under the Foundation of Goodness scheme. Play MATCH 4 at the Seenigama Oval, set in the school grounds. The wicket is a well-kept artificial, with a well-tended outfield. Get to know the community where you will be based and welcomed for the next few days.
Day 9 is a Community Day. As part of the Foundation of Goodness scheme you will be interacting, learning and helping out the local community in various capacities, giving you a lasting insight into island life. Head to the coastline to enjoy the sunset at any number of beachside bar/restaurants. Spend Day 11 the day joining in with group community work, before focusing back on the cricket. Take a squad training session in the evening on a grass wicket at Madampe village, near Seenigama. MATCH 5 is at the Galle International Stadium, with the 17th Century Dutch Fort looming large as a spectacular backdrop to this re-established and re-vamped Test venue.
Seenigama Sports Academy The Sports Academy dormitory-style accommodation overlooking the Seenigama Oval is ideally suited for cricket teams that come from overseas to participate in the Seenigama programmes. Guests are welcome to use the fantastic sports facilities at the Academy. ...(More)
Sri Lanka Tours Day 13MATCH 6 - Say goodbye to the Seenigama community and head north for Colombo and your impending departure. There is an option of a Twenty20 at De Soysa Moratuwa International Stadium en route to Colombo. Check back in to the Taj Samudra and enjoy a final tour dinner at Cricket Club Cafe.
