Ambiente is a simple eight-bedroom guesthouse situated on a ridge high above the village of Ella with magnificent views of Ella gap, Ravana Falls and little Adam's Peak. Situated 3,300 ft. above sea level, Ella can be reached via Ratnapura or Nuwara Eliya. The town of Bandarawela is just half and hour away and Haputale is one hours drive. The Ella train station is located nearby.
Introduction
If location is everything, then Ambiente is one of the most blessed guesthouses in the world with the most enchanting vistas. All the rooms and the restaurant have private terraces or verandahs that overlook the surrounding mountains. If you want for little but a good book and enchanting views then Ambiente is as inspiring as anywhere in Sri Lanka. But it is a simple place and seeks to be little else.

Accommodation
Out of the eight double rooms on offer, Red Dot recommends the four double rooms in the New Wing with more modern en suite bathrooms and a private terrace with magnificent views. Rooms are furnished with twin beds and mosquito netting and the bathrooms have hot and cold showers, wash basin, and w/c. Two rooms are located in a separate cottage with lounge area and two more adjoin the restaurant - all with similar facilities.
Facilities
The restaurant serves mainly Sri Lankan rice and curries that is prepared using fresh vegetables and meats purchased from the local market. A garden terrace with sun lounges overlooking the surrounding mountains is ideal for hours of relaxation.
Excursions
Trek to the magnificent Ravana Ella situated at the edge of a forest reserve with several ancient caves. Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to the Tangamale Bird Sanctuary home to numerous species of birds and butterflies. Adisham, a Benedictine Monastery, and several other waterfalls including Dunhinda and Diyaluma are all located nearby in Ella, Bandarawela, and Haputale.
