The tortoises in the garden look to be a similar age to the friendly old guy out the front who redefines the combination of a pith helmet, walk shorts, gloves and long socks as a contemporary fashion statement. The Bandarawela Hotel’s elevated garden setting is a peaceful escape from the dusty city.'
