Hotel Glendower is a 10 bedroom guesthouse located in the heart of Nuwara Eliya town adjoining the golf course and the Grand Hotel. This is a convenient spot from which to explore the old colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya which lies more than 6,000 feet above sea level. Nuwara Eliya can be approached via Kandy or Hatton. The journey from Kandy will take about three hours.
Introduction
Hotel Glendower is a small and cozy guesthouse with timber floors and fireplaces. It feels more like a Swiss chalet than a tropical retreat. The hotel offers clean and comfortable rooms. The staff here has even been known to play western pop songs on guitar to help pass an enjoyable evening in the welcoming bar. The small garden here, edged with colourful flower beds and hedges, often win prizes at the annual garden competition held during the holiday season in April.

There are 10 bedrooms with some opening out to the back gardens. Rooms are furnished with double or twin beds. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
There is a small sitting area with a fire place leading to a TV lounge. The bar here is a popular venue in Nuwara Eliya and screens international cricket and football matches. Stairs lead to the snooker room which has a century old snooker table. The restaurant serves Sri Lankan, Chinese, and western food. Snacks and tea is served in the gardens. Internet facility and computer is available for guests to use in the reception area.
Excursions
Being centrally located, there is access to many activities within Nuwara Eliya itself including a round of golf on the challenging 18 hold golf course of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, horse riding, boating in Lake Gregory, bird watching and nature treks. For those interested in culture and heritage – there are several heritage mansions that are worth seeing, the Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the Sita Amman Kovil nearby. Children will enjoy playing in the Victoria Park or a pony ride along the Race Course. Day’s excursions are possible to Hortain Plains, Hakgala Gardens, or to a tea estate and factory where you can learn about the famous Ceylon Tea and its production.
