Location
Mahoora Safari Camps, managed by Eco Team, one of the premier wildlife companies in the island, offers camping inside a range of national parks, including Yala, Uda Walalwe, Wasgomuwa, Bundala and Sinharaja Rainforest. The other parks may be available on request, including Minneriya, the Knuckles and Horton Plains.
Introduction
The word 'Mahoora' meaning `the great one', is a term used by Sri Lanka's original inhabitants, the ancient Vedda tribe to describe a person of great importance including royalty. The Mahoora camping experience is designed to be just that ~ a camping experience blending service fit for royalty with an indigenous touch. Mahoora offer two grades of camping: luxury and standard. Unlike Kulu Safaris, Mahoora's main competitor, Mahoora offers one-night stays in the parks which are useful when trying to keep down costs. But a two-day stay inside the parks is still recommended.

Accommodation
Mahoora Luxury and Standard Camps are on offer. The Luxury Camps consists of spacious tents with sleeping and living areas and an ensuite toilet. The whole tent, including the washroom, is equipped with a wall-to-wall carpet. The tent has foldable arm chairs, a coffee table, and two beds with 6-inch mattresses dressed in clean linen, and a flushable toilet with h/w shower, wash basin, and w/c. The Mahoora Standard Camps include smaller tents with a separate communal toilet and shower area.
Facilities
At night the campsite is lit with candles, lanterns, and campfire and five-course meals or a BBQ is served with a chef in attendance. Unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served out of a well-stocked bar for those taking the luxury package. Laptop and digital camera charging facilities are available. Guests are provided with an umbrella, slippers and a fresh fruit basket on arrival. Security and first aid is ensured at the campsites by the Eco Team staff.
Excursions
The Mahoora Safari campsites are set up in excellent locations nearby rivers under clear blue skies in Yala, Uda Walalwe, Wasgomuwa and Sinharaja Rainforest. A qualified naturalist is provided enabling guests to gain first-hand knowledge about the environment, the flora and fauna. For game drives, a Land Rover Defender or Land Cruiser Jeeps are used ensuring much fun and adventure with limited aches and pains at the end of a long day.
