Location
Elephant Reach is ideally located for visits to Yala National Park, Bundala, Kataragama and Tissa. The drive direct from Colombo will take approximately six hours. The drive from the highlands will take from 3-4 hours. The beaches of Tangalle are a short 1.5 hours drive away. The nearest airport that is serviced by the Air Taxi is Weerawilla.
Introduction
Elephant Reach is a new mid-range hotel option for those wishing to visit Yala, Kataragama and Tissa - a good alternative for those not wanting a luxury camping and also for families. The property, built on a four-acre site, is made up of chalets built under the shade of tropical trees laden with ripe mangoes and cashew. Initial feedback is promising with guests commenting on the property's relaxing natural feel and the friendly, courteous staff.

Accommodation
The 21 airconditioned chalets, most of which are interconnecting, blend with nature. The chalets are equipped with a fully-stocked mini bar, 20" TV with satellite channels, DVD player, hair dryer, tea and coffee-making facilities and attached spacious bathrooms with hot and cold water. Baby cots are provided upon request as well as baby-sitting facility.
Facilities
A restaurant serving Sri Lankan and Western cuisine, the Mahout's Bar, landscaped gardens, swimming pool, pool table, pool bar, kid's play area, IDD, Internet & e-mail facilities, and safari jeeps with guides for tours inside the wildlife parks.
Excursions
The hotel is located close to Yala National Park and the Bundala Bird Sanctuary as well as historic towns of Tissa, Kataragama, Kirinda and Sithulpahuwa. Tissa, once the capital of the ancient Ruhunu Kingdom in the 2nd century B.C, is dominated by serene lakes and gigantic semi-circle shaped Buddhist Dagobas (temples). Visit the sacred jungle shrine of Kataragama, a pilgrimage site with great religious and historical significance for all four of main religions of the world. Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Christians throng to this sacred jungle shrine, built by the warrior King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century B.C. to pay homage to God Kataragama.
