Travel Sri Lanka, Vol 3 No 1
If one auspicious day my stars are aligned in all the right ways then maybe I’ll win the lottery. Should that day ever come, the first thing I am going to put my newfound wealth into…..is my own personal villa complete with private beach on the south-west coast. It will not be ostentatious or pompous. Indeed from the road you wouldn’t even be able to tell that anything special nestles behind the tall walls. It would have its own swimming pool should the sea be rough, and inside would be decked out with a marriage of traditional and contemporary Sri Lankan interior design. Most important it would be on an immaculate stretch of sand with only the odd seashell or piece of coral to break the perfect fine white layer before the waves. That is my dream. Astonishing, then, that on my travels I should come across just such a haven in a nondescript area on the Galle Road just south of Habaraduwa. Its (South Point Vlla’s) special charm is that it feels like your own private hideaway…

The villa exceeded the brochure description and provided a tranquil and luxurious break that we will repeat at some stage in the future.
