Galle Coast & South Coast
Snapshot
Galle, the gateway to the south coast, has become one of the classiest areas of Sri Lanka, its fortifications housing a selection of restored villas and hotels; its beaches home to a selection of enchanting beach villas in stunning locations. Travel further south and you will discover a succession of cove-like beaches, turquoise seas, rural fishing hamlets, and a mix of ethnic nationalities and cultures. Your wedding can be held within Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort, inland in a 200-year-old colonial mansion, or on the magnificent beaches of Tangalle. There are also several old churches built during the colonial period along the coast where church ceremonies can be held.

Tamarind Hill, Galle
A creation of Taru, a renowned lifestyle designer and creator of several other dream destinations on the island including the River House and Park Street Hotel, the Tamarind is housed in a century’s old colonial mansion built in the 1800s. Its latest incarnation is as the luxurious Tamarind Hill boutique hotel opened in December 2007. Ornate arches, verandahs and courtyards are enhanced with elegant interiors furnished with Dutch period antiques, vibrant local art, and luxurious soft furnishings. Tamarind Hill has an ambience of a typical southern 'walawua' – an ancestral home -- and is ideal for a memorable wedding celebration. Tamarind Hill offers several locations for your wedding including the poolside, central garden courtyard or indoors.

Fortress, Galle
The Fortress unfolds inside tall, solid walls perched by a beautiful stretch of beach in Koggala, just 15 minutes away from the historic city of Galle. It successful blends traditional Dutch, Portuguese and Sri Lankan architecture with contemporary Avant Garde design and is managed by the world-renowned Per Aquum Resorts & Spas - a group most famous for their luxurious properties in the Maldives and Seychelles. A romantic wedding can be held outdoors on the beach, the garden, by the pool side or indoors. The Fortress also will organize the wedding ceremony on the beach -- anywhere along the south coast if you wish -- and even fly you back to the hotel for dinner.

Amangalla, Galle Fort
Amangalla, which lies within the walls of the 17th century Dutch Fort, is a classy boutique escape for those wanting the highest possible luxury in intimate, historic surroundings. The property provides an amalgamation of buildings dating back over 400 years. Collectively the buildings have been used as headquarters for the Dutch commander and his officers in the 17th century and later as a billet for British soldiers. Aman Resorts, a leading luxury hotel development company in Asia manages Amangalla and offers excellent old-world luxury, superb food, arguably the best spa in the island and exceptional service. This all provides a wonderful ambience for your wedding day. The ceremony can be held in the garden or by the poolside according to your wishes. There are centuries old colonial period churches within the Galle Fort where the church ceremony could be held.

Amanwella, Tangalle
Amanwella, sister property to Amangalla, is set amidst a coconut grove fronting a crescent shaped beautiful stretch of coastline untouched by development, near the town of Tangalle. Recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s leading beach properties, Amanwella is a super-luxurious and chic escape developed and managed by the exclusive Aman Group. Stylish contemporary suites, each with their own private pool and sun-lounging terrace and a 45m infinity swimming pool add to the serenity. Sweeping views of the ocean and the beach are flanked by two rocky headlands. Your wedding can be held on the beach, in the garden or indoors. Amanwella offers a traditional wedding with a mix of contemporary music and ambience for your special day.

Maya Villa, Tangalle
Maya Villa is ideal for an intimate wedding ceremony and a comprehensive package is on offer. While some of the wedding party can stay at Maya through out the festivities, friends and relatives can stay in nearby beach hotels and villas in Tangalle which are all just 20 minutes away. Maya offers a traditional Sri Lanka wedding which can be tailor made to suite the bride and groom. The staff at Maya will make all your dreams for this special day come true, maybe even a majestic elephant to be in attendance!
