The newly refurbished Mount Lodge adds to the select band of properties offering intimate boutique-style accommodation within range of Colombo. It is situated on a sought-after street in the beach suburb of Mount Lavinia, a gentle stroll away from the famous Mount Lavinia Hotel, and 20 minutes (outside rush hour) from central Colombo. A tempting option, perhaps, for the beginning or end of your holiday. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport is about 1.5 hours.
Introduction
This four-bedroom house really is a hidden delight. From the outside it looks entirely unremarkable, but walk through the small front door and you discover a tasteful and skillfully-planned interior, a world of stone floors, sumptuous sofas, contemporary art on white walls, and light shining in from several secluded, stone-walled courtyard gardens, decked by tropical plants. Mount Lodge's great advantage is that each floor exists independently from the other two floors, so allowing a reasonable degree of privacy in your own personal suite. Mount Lodge is also far enough away from the rail line for passing trains not to raise late-risers from their slumbers. Mount Lodge can be booked in part or whole and is the sister property of Nisala Arana located in Bentota.

Accommodation
The house is split over three floors. The honeymoon suite on the top floor has an antique four-poster bed, lounge, sitting room, roof garden and bathroom. Two first-floor rooms, both en suite with private balconies, share a sitting room and are particularly appropriate for a family. The ground floor accommodation comprises en suite bedroom, and a lounge dining area with comfy sofas and French windows. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished and have a/c, ceiling fans and bamboo blinds.
Facilities
Mount Lodge has satellite TV, telephone and wireless broadband. Other facilities include laundry and a babysitting service. The house well staffed with resident manager, cook and cleaner. It is sold on BB basis only with breakfast consisting of fresh juices, pastries, fruit platters and Ceylon teas. Breakfast can be taken in the lower-level dining room or on the balcony of your suite. Mount Lavinia's restaurants -- including Mount Lavinia Hotel -- are only five minutes stroll away.
Excursions
Explore the coastal town of Mount Lavnia with its characterful beachside bars, cafes and restaurants and wayside boutiques. Take a tuk-tuk (trishaw) ride into Colombo which is an interesting mix of the old and the new. Visit ancient Buddhist temples including the Bellanwilla Temple, ornate Hindu Kovils and Dutch period churches. The national museum, art galleries, shops, restaurants, night clubs, and spas are all located within 15 minutes drive.
