The Privilege, located about 80 minutes south of Colombo alongside the beach at Wadduwa, is an ideal retreat for those seeking refined boutique accommodation on the west coast, within easy range of the capital. The journey from Colombo is about one-and-a-half hours.
Introduction
The Privilege is a luxury all-suite property designed to provide a retreat for those seeking privacy and comfort. Susil, the owner, has had a long a career in five- star hotels and now manages this exceedingly hospitable and attentive boutique hotel proudly offering high standards of service. The suites - all of which have balconies and small sitting rooms - are tastefully designed and furnished. Public areas benefit from antique prints and artifacts. Wadduwa beach does not quite rival some on the west coast, but the sensuous tropical feeling still surrounds you and days can be well spent beside a well-sized pool amid grounds strewn with palm trees.

Accommodation
Twenty-four luxury suites offer high-class if not particularly spacious accommodation. Luxury rooms, with individual a/c, include king and queen suite (floor area 850 square ft). All suites consist of bedroom, small sitting room, well-appointed bathroom (with shower and bath) and balcony with sea view. Each suite possesses High-quality bed (twin or double), two TVs with satellite channels, MP3/VCD player, mini-bar, IDD phone, individual climate control, fax/internet, and room service.
Facilities
Food is individually prepared and meals can be taken on request at any time. Award-winning chefs offer a seven-course a la carte dinner served at the fine dining restaurant or at the outside dining area by the beach. Other facilities include a large swimming pool, snooker room, fitness centre, business centre with fax and internet, jewellery shop run by a gemologist, and Ayurvedic centre offering relaxing therapies as well as yoga and guided meditation.
Excursions
Several water sports including surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing are on offer just nearby in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit Kosgoda's Marine Turtle hatchery - a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience Ambalangoda's cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly.
