* Viventa by Taj will be undergoing refurbishments on a phased out basis starting mid-January – October 2012. Some of the hotel rooms, the lobby, lobby bar, Coffee Shop, pool, banquet hall are included in the proposed work plan. The resort will continue to be in operation throughout this period with the least amount of disturbance to the guests who will be staying at the resort during this period.

Viventa by Taj Bentota is a luxurious and tradiotional beach hotel situated on its own rock headland, with glorious views over the Indian Ocean and Bentota beach, one of the most expansive beaches in Asia. Bentota is a popular family resort on Sri Lanka's south-west coast, lying around two-and-a-quarter ours south of Colombo.
Introduction
This five-star Taj hotel owned by the Taj Group - which also owns several hotel properties in the Middle East, India, Nepal and the Maldives - offers luxurious facilities and a high level of service. The Taj group’s more upmarket product Viventa took over this Taj hotel in September 2010 and the hotel was rebranded as Viventa by Taj Exotica. Well appointed rooms all with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean, extensive landscaped gardens, range of funfilled activities, plush interiors with wooden pillars, high ceilings and expensive furnishings - and the Taj group's reputation for high levels of service, makes this hotel an ideal beach retreat.

All 162 rooms - Standard, Deluxe and Superior Sea View Rooms -have sea or garden views, private balconies and ensuite bathrooms. In-room facilities include a/c, mini-bar, phone, satellite TV, electronic safe, tea / coffee facilities and 24-hour room service. The bathrooms have baths and h/w showers and hairdryer. The Deluxe and Superior Sea View Rooms are more spacious and have a lounge area.
Facilities
The hotel offers several dining options including the Palm’s Coffee Shop serving Sri Lankan and international buffets, Oriental Pavillion specializing in Chinese cuisine, the Sea View Restaurant serving fresh seafood dishes and continental cuisine, the Sea Lounge Bar for high tea and by night – a lively bar serving drinks and cocktails, and finally the Aquarius pool bar for fresh juices and snacks. Other facilities include a giant-sized swimming pool with children's pool, fully-equipped fitness centre with Sauna, Jacuzzi and gymnasium, beach volleyball, badminton court, billiards, table tennis and other indoor games, water polo & water aerobics, watersports and indoor sports at Club Intersport Centre (1km away). There is also a night club, regular evening entertainment, and conference facilities. The hotel is also well organized to hold weddings and will plan your entire wedding day from a traditional Sri Lankan ceremony to the reception.
Excursions
Visit the nearby Lunuganga - a garden retreat that was created by Sri Lanka's iconic architect, Geoffrey Bawa. The Lunuganga gardens were a life long project cherished by Bawa and designed with numerous varieties of foliage, many pavilions, and statues. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit Kosgoda's Marine Turtle hatchery - a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. One hour's drive will take you to the historic town of Galle and the 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site. Explore Galle Fort's narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries, boutique hotels, cafes, and restaurants.
