Location
The Serendib Hotel is located on the broad beach of Bentota, one of the most expansive sandy beaches in Asia, and a much loved family resort on Sri Lanka's popular south-west coast. Bentota lies around 2.5 hours south of Colombo.
Introduction
The Serendib is not the largest, or the most ornate hotel in Bentota, but it is undoubtedly among the best of the mid-market options and offers offers particularly good value. There is a hospitable feel to this simple, serene hotel that charms many. Its envied position on the heart of Bentota's broad, sandy beach certainly helps. Rooms are simple but comfortably furnished and the public areas are stylish and inviting.

Accommodation
Ninety a/c rooms with private balcony or terrace with sea views and ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers. Rooms are furnished with double beds, writing desk and chair and also have satellite TV, IDD telephone, minibar, hair dryer and safe.
Facilities
Swimming pool and children's swimming area in large palm-fringed gardens with sunbeds, 24 hours room service, two restaurants and coffee shop serving Sri Lankan and international cuisine, two bars, squash court and a decent range of watersports available. Other facilities include a TV room, games room, beach bar, baby sitting and child care. Evening entertainment has even included staff variety shows, which sums up the Serendib's reputation for a happy atmosphere.
Excursions
Several water sports including surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing are on offer in Bentota and down the coast in Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit the nearby Lunuganga -a garden retreat that was created by Sri Lanka's iconic architect, Geoffrey Bawa. The Lunuganga gardens were a life long project cherished by Bawa and designed with numerous varieties of foliage, many pavilions, and statues. Visit Kosgoda's Marine Turtle hatchery - a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience the southern folklore and cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum in Ambalangoda where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly.
