Kalutara lies 26 miles south of Colombo, where the scenic West coast actually begins. Its narrow but sandy beach, with relatively calm and safe seas, is an appealing alternative for those seeking a relaxed beach hotel within range of Colombo. Journey from Colombo's International Airport will take around two hours.
Introduction
Tangerine Beach's happy and relaxed feel has enabled this hotel to retain its popularity over many years, particularly with a more elderly clientele. This peraceful mid-market beach hotel lies in large, shady gardens, dominated by palm trees, with the Indian Ocean the briefest stroll away. Comfortable rooms and numerous facilitates on offer makes this good first or last stop on your holiday in Sri Lanka. Guests here are also welcome to use the facilities at the 5-star sister property next door - the Royal Palms Beach Hotel.

Accommodation
Tangerine Beach Hotel has 166 Deluxe and Standard rooms and seven Suites including a Presidential Suite. All rooms and suites open out to private balconies and beautiful views of the Indian Ocean and garden. In-room facilities include individually controlled airconditioning, overhead fans, 24 hour room service, and ensuite bathrooms with bath and h/w showers. Deluxe rooms also have TV, mini bar and hair dryer. The spacious suites also have lounge areas and private balconies with wonderful sea views.
Facilities
The main restaurant serves Sri Lankan and international cuisine buffet style. The coffee shop by the pool serves light meals and snacks and for fine dining, there is the Supper Club. There is also a bright and airy lounge bar, swimming pool with children's pool and bar, floodlit tennis courts, table tennis, volleyball, billiards, fitness club and conference facilities. Tangerine's Spa offers a range of relaxing therapies including Balinese, Thai and Aromatherapy massages, detox and beauty treatments.
Excursions
Several water sports including surfing, snorkeling, jet skiing are on offer just nearby in Bentota and Hikkaduwa. Go out to sea in a catamaran with the fisherman or take a boat ride along the tranquil Madu River past quaint rural villages, en route, visit the local markets, temples & craft and antique shops. Visit Kosgoda's Marine Turtle hatchery - a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka. Experience Ambalangoda's cultural heritage with a visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display. Masked dancing is also performed here regularly.
