'This is the beach based sister hotel to the celebrated Ulpotha retreat. The same faultless natural aesthetic runs found there runs through Alankuda, with its mud-hut cabanas and saffron-colour villas covered in palm fronds….. The most spectacular feature is the swimming pool, a 40 metre strip of turquoise water stretching straight towards the sea and the horizon and lit with fibre optics at night. The sea itself is also a delight, so saline that with each swim it seems to rinse out every pore of your skin like a natural detox.'
