Location
The Lavender House is a stunning and highly-recommended five-bedroom tea planter’s bungalow set amidst the Hellboda Tea plantation in Pussellawa, midway between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. The drive from Kandy takes about 30 minutes to the bungalow.  Nuwara Eliya is 45 minutes further into the hills. Lavender House is a perfect solution for those who want to sample the hill country but only have limited time to spare.
Introduction
Built in the 1890’s, The Lavender House is an old Colonial planter’s bungalow surrounded by the lush green tea estate of Helboda. The bungalow has been carefully restored by its Australian owners, Gabby and James, who are also the owners of the famous Cricket Club Café in Colombo. The long refurbishment finally finished in 2006 and the result is a brilliant hill country escape that blends old world charm with luxurious comfort, peace and tranquility. Those that have enjoyed the Cricket Club Café during the past decade will not be surprised to hear that the bungalow is staffed by a highly efficient and attentive team. There are five luxurious en suite bedrooms each with a working fire place. The infinity swimming pool merges with miles of tea covered hills and the mountain peaks beyond. Lavender House is highly recommended for couples and families as the bungalow offers plenty of activities to keep children entertained. The house is rented by the room. With ample communal spaces and garden area, privacy is assured.

Accommodation
The five en suite bedrooms are all different providing a unique ambience and have working fireplaces that are lit on a cold night. Each bedroom has a private sit-out where meals are served if preferred. The ensuite bathrooms have bath tubs and h/w showers.

Master Suite: Furnished with an antique king-sized four poster bed, this spacious room has a sitting area, a work desk, and private sit-out. Ensuite bathroom has a bath tube and h/w shower.

Garden Suites 1 & 2: Similar in design, these two suites have sit-outs with front garden views.

Garden Suite 3: Furnished with twin beds, this room has front garden views.

Garden Suite 4: With a timber panelled fireplace, blue and white porcelain giving it an oriental touch, and four poster canopied antique bed dressed in white linen, this is a romantic room ideal for couples.
Facilities
There’s a cosy living room complete with library, fireplace and even a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill over the mantelpiece. Right opposite is the dramatic red dining room with a 10-seater antique dining table, crystal chandelier, silver service and adjoining wine cellar. A second more informal lounge area is located towards the front of the house and has a grand piano, satellite TV, and DVD player. There is also a Billiard Room, office with computer, printer, fax, and internet facility. The entire house including the pool area is fitted with a Bose sound system that the guests can use with their own iPod or select your choice of music from the in-house collection. Meals are flexible at Lavender House and are served anywhere according to guest’s wishes. You can choose to have breakfast on the pool terrace, high tea in the lounge, and dinner in the lavish dining room. European and Sri Lankan cuisine is available, all prepared by a highly skilled kitchen team that have been well-trained in the Cricket Club Café. Many of the vegetables and herbs come for their own home garden. A remarkably well-stocked wine cellar, including some strong Australian vineyards and exceptional French classics, will provide a major attraction for wine lovers. The outdoors offers extensive landscaped gardens, clay tennis courts, a jogging track, and an infinity pool with picturesque views of the surrounding tea plantation.
Excursions
Explore the surrounding Helboda Tea estate and visit the tea factory with views over the scenic Kotmale reservoir. Here you will gain insight into the manufacturing process as well as an opportunity to taste the different grades of hill country tea. Visit the city of Kandy, steeped in history and surrounded by nature. Visit the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined and the Peradeniya Botanical gardens with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees. Experience Kandy’s ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, crafting Kandyan jewelry, and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming. The hill country town of Nuwara Eliya also offers many activities including the challenging 18 holed golf course of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, horse riding and a visit to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens.
