Location
Dickwella Village has a prized location, on a headland surrounded by two sandy and tranquil beaches, on a southern coast where one stunning beach is normally deemed quite sufficient. This laid-back resort with a homely feel, makes an appealing staging point between the historic fortress town of Galle to the west and the National Parks of Bundala and Yala to the east. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take upto five hours or consider taking the Air Taxi and fly into Koggala which is about an hour away from Dickwella.
Introduction
Originally known as the Dickwella Village, this Italian owned hotel was established almost thirty years ago. The Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004 inflicted heavy damage on the property, but after a prolonged renovation programme, it now offers appealing mid-market accommodation and a range of improved facilities that makes for a fun-filled beach holiday for adults and children alike. The tastefully done refurbishments have seen upgrades to the rooms, Spa and restaurants. Along with the new, some of the older more familiar sites and faces have been retained giving it a homely feel. Previous visitors to Dickwella will sense an old friend in a slightly different guise.

Facilities
A revamped new restaurant - The Tower, still sits on a raised terrace overlooking the bay, but its greater emphasis on outdoor seating makes it a distinct improvement on its predecessor and it still possesses a cosy adjoining bar area. A variety of Sri Lankan and Italian cuisine is served here. There is also a Pizzeria with a traditional Italian stone oven that serves Pizzas and pasta during lunch time. The Grill Bar is located on the rooftop with spectacular views of Dickwella Bay. Freshly grilled sea food is a specialty here. The newly refurbished Sanctuary Spa offers a range of rejuvenating aromatherapy massages and beauty treatments. A large infinity swimming pool is filled with fresh salt seawater, with an adjacent Jacuzzi. Other facilities include a library, board games, red-earth tennis court, badminton, and beach volleyball. The hotel runs a PADI-accredited dive centre from mid-October until May, offering one-day courses as well as itineraries for the more experienced. Windsurfing, body-surf boards, canoes and snorkelling equipment are available. Fishing trips arranged on request. Experience the underwater marine life that surrounds Dickwella Resort. There are as many as 16 dive sites right around here including a ship wreck waiting to be explored. The cove like bays here are safe for swimming throughout the year.
