Location
Mount Cinnamon is about 15 minutes inland from Mirissa beach, one of the most beautiful crescent-shaped bays in the island, and commands dramatic views across the estate and towards the sea. Mirissa is 40 kms from the historic city of Galle and 80 kms from the Yala National Park. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately five hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to Koggala, which is about 30 minutes drive away from here.
Introduction
Mount Cinnamon is a tranquil boutique hotel perched on a hill amidst a 50 acre cinnamon estate in the deep south. Designed by the renowned Sri Lankan architect, Anjalendran, Mount Cinnamon is contemporary in style with open-plan living and dining areas, manicured lawns, spacious bedrooms with private verandahs, and interiors with dramatic local art and sculptures. The architect has ensured that the panoramic views can be enjoyed throughout the villa – from the bedrooms, on a terrace reclining in a planter’s chair, whilst soaking in the bath tub, or even while cooking in the kitchen. The tranquil and inspiring surroundings are also ideally suited for yoga and meditation or even as a brainstorming retreat for business executives. There are two additional properties on the estate – Cinnamon Museum which also has four bedrooms and a restaurant; and Mirissa Hills bungalow, located down the hill and given out in its entirety to one party at a time.

Accommodation
Mount Cinnamon: Has three suites and one single bedroom all with private terraces and wonderful views. Each room has an ensuite bathroom with h/w shower and plenty of locally made cinnamon soap. Bedrooms are furnished with comfortable beds dressed in local fabrics. In room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, beds fitted with mosquito nets.

Cinnamon Suite: Overlooking the front gardens, this suite consists of a double bedroom, private verandah, and library.  Ensuite bathroom has a bathtub and h/w shower.
Flamboyant Suite: Consists of a spacious double room, private verandah and ensuite bathroom with h/w shower.  Situated on the same side as the Cinnamon Suite.

Peacock Royal Suite: Opening out to the central courtyard where the swimming pool is located, this double bedroom has a private terrace overlooking the estate and ensuite bathroom with bathtub and h/w shower.

Taprobane Suite: Situated near Peacock Royal, this is a single bedroom opening out to the central courtyard.  Ensuite bathroom has h/w shower.

Cinnamon Museum: Located just a few yards downhill from Mount Cinnamon is the Cinnamon Museum with an additional four double rooms that were completed in 2009.  Two of the rooms have sea views and two have garden views.  Interiors are colourful and tastefully decorated.  In-room facilities here include a/c, overhead fans, beds fitted with mosquito nets.  Ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.
Facilities
Mount Cinnamon:  The sitting and dining rooms at Mount Cinnamon open out on one side to a manicured lawn and views towards the breathtaking Weligama and Mirissa Bays. The other side steps out into a courtyard and the deep blue swimming pool. Sri Lankan rice and curry or Western dishes are served here using homemade condiments and fresh fruit, vegetables and seafood.   Guests can choose to dine in the main dining room, in the garden or in the privacy of their own verandah.  Other facilities include TV, DVD player, and music system.  The tranquil surroundings are ideal for yoga.  Red Dot will be able to organize a private yoga teacher with prior notice.

Cinnamon Museum:  The restaurant is located on the upper floor of this building.  Tasty Sri Lankan rice and curries and snacks are served here.  Guests at the Museum are welcome to use the restaurant and swimming pool facilities at Mount Cinnamon.  The Cinnamon Museum itself had a planned completion date in mid-2010.
Excursions
Guests are taken on a Cinnamon Trail – with an hours walk through the cinnamon estate where you can observe the process of peeling the cinnamon bark. The secluded crescent shaped Mirissa bay, Weligama and Unawatuna are all nearby. Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, sea kayaking, snorkeling and boating. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. We also recommend a visit to Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries, shops, restaurants and several boutique hotels.
