Kingsley’s Pearl is a five-bedroom beach villa in Thalpe, Galle’s upmarket beach satellite. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately 4.5 hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to Koggala, which is a 15-minute drive away from the villa.
Introduction
Kingsley’s Pearl is designed to allow in natural light and the ocean breeze through its many open verandahs, halls and bedrooms. Lie in a hammock and let the rhythm of the waves put you to sleep; or recline in a planter’s chair with a good book. The villa is suitable for families although swimming is not possible on the villa's doorstep because of a coral-shelf. Safe swimming is about 100 yards down the beach.

Accommodation
There are four double bedrooms that open out to the central courtyard. The master bedroom has a private terrace with a sitting area opening out to the garden and the sea beyond. Rooms are furnished with four-poster beds that are dressed up with a splash of colour. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan and LCD Flat screen TV with satellite channels. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
This Australian-designed villa blends well into the environment. The terracotta floors and weathered clay roof tiles help ease the heat during midday. A central courtyard with large swimming pool, surrounding verandahs and open spaces that serve as living and dining areas, all overlook a garden, strewn with coconut trees, that slopes down to the beach. There is also an a/c living area with comfortable furniture, a library, LCD flat-screen TV, DVD and CD player, board games and musical instruments including a guitar and didgeridoo. Kingsley’s Pearl is well staffed to ensure your stay is comfortable. A nanny can be organized with prior notice for families traveling with children. Both Western dishes and Sri Lankan rice and curries are served here. Guests can bring their own alcoholic beverages. Discuss your menus with the chef and he will ensure that fresh vegetables and seafood from the daily catch is prepared to your liking. Accompany him if you wish to the local market.
Excursions
Several water sports are on offer in Unawatuna including deep sea fishing, catamaran and boat rides, surfing, snorkeling and diving. Walk on the headland of Unawatuna Bay and see Rhumassala Temple and beautiful ocean views. You eventually finding yourself on `Jungle Beach’ - a little known and secluded beach. Galle’s historic 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 15 minutes away. Hours can be spent exploring the maze of narrow streets lined with Dutch and British period buildings still in use, the sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the growing collection of art galleries, antique shops, cafes and restaurants.
