Introduction
Palace Mirissa’s charm is its idyllic location, high up on a headland with sweeping views of Mirissa’s golden beach. Developed by the owners of Paradise Beach Club - the most popular property on Mirissa’s beachfront, the Palace provides comfortable accommodation in spacious wooden cabanas on stilts, immersed in tropical gardens where a few pet peacocks majestically strut around. The cabanas are on a hillock and some have much better sea views than others. All have private verandas where you can relax whilst enjoying a cup of tea. Feast your eyes on the traditional Sri Lankan art that permeates through out – on the ceilings, walls and even furniture. The spectacular beach is a short walk down the hill.

Accommodation
The spacious airconditoned cabanas come with double beds and are large enough for an extra bed. Other facilities include satellite TV, phone, mini bar, and 24 hour room service. The ensuite bathrooms are dashingly decorated in navy blue and white tiles and have h/w showers courtesy of a solar heating panel on the roof.
Facilities
The communal areas include a bar and outdoor dining room - a lovely headland shack in which to enjoy a cool beer with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Traditional Sri Lankan rice and curries and western cuisine is served here. Fresh seafood is purchased straight from the boats as they come in with their day’s catch. There is a fresh water swimming pool and a kid’s pool with gorgeous views over Mirissa bay. Stroll down the hillock to Mirissa Bay which is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and surfing. There are several beach bars and small beach side restaurants scattered along the bay where you can dine under the stars.
Excursions
Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkeling and boating activities for visitors to the South coast. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting Blue Whales, Sperm Whales and Spinner Dolphins. These gigantic marine mammals can be spotted in the deep seas off the southern coastal towns of Galle, Mirissa and Kirinda. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. Mirissa Water Sports is a charitable organisation helping to generate employment for the youth from the tsunami affected coastal areas. We also recommend a visit to Galle’s 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site and a melting pot of cultural influences. Several hours can be spent wandering along narrow streets and around the sturdy ramparts overlooking the Indian Ocean. Several boutique hotels within the fort offer fine dining.
