The Deer Park Hotel, now managed by Angsana Resorts & Spa, stands in the heart of the cultural triangle overlooking an ancient reservoir at Giritale. This appealing hill-side property, set within the jungle of ancient royal hunting grounds, is an ideal gateway for those wishing to visit Polonnaruwa or Minneriya National Park. The hotel is five hours drive from Colombo.
Introduction
Not all development spoils a landscape. The Deer Park is a true luxury eco resort, subtly enhancing the beauty of its surroundings. It has a tranquil, natural feel, with the sound of birdsong and rushing waterfalls. Since being taken over by Angsana Resorts & Spa - one of Asia's leading boutique and contemporary hotel chains - the entire property has undergone a major refurbishment with considerable care taken over interior design. The result is a chic, contemporary, exotic and peaceful retreat - a perfect place to unwind and relax away from the outside world.

Accommodation
The hotel has 77 cottages all furnished with a blend of vibrant colours and Asian crafts. Each room has a living and dressing area, a/c and ceiling fans and satellite TV. 61 cottages have open-air garden bathrooms. There are five room types: Superior Cottage, Deluxe Cottage, Deluxe Duplex Cottage, Angsana Cottage and Deluxe Pool Suite. We recommend the six delightful and spacious Angsana Cottages, which are surrounded by waterlily ponds and overlook the Giritale reservoir. They have their own private gazebos in which to sip your morning tea and look out over the water. The Angsana Cottages come with special service benefits, including complimentary morning and afternoon tea. The Deluxe Pool Suite is a super plush two-bedroom suite complete with mod cons (DVD player etc.) and a private patio and pool. Other rooms have had a mixed reception from those seeking the highest standards of boutique accommodation. The Superior Cottages are ideal for families and friends who wish to stay in connecting units. The two-unit blocks have a living area and outdoor bathroom on the ground floor. The four-unit blocks have upper storey units with indoor showers and a common balcony. The Deluxe Cottages are cozy single-storey cottages offering more privacy for couples. The Duplex Deluxe Cottages are similar to the Superior Cottages but have 40% more space and you can have a selection of views: pool, pond or forest.
Facilities
Two restaurants, Tree Top and Ebony, offering excellent buffets and also fine-dining options. Two bars: The Oriole and Sandpiper. Business Centre and meeting facilties. A three-tiered swimming pool. A sports centre (the one disappointment) with squash, gymnasium, table tennis and a sauna. The Angsana Spa comes with five outdoor and four indoor spa pavilions and offers an extensive range of massage, body and beauty treatments. Angsana Gallery is a lifestyle boutique shop with an array of home spa accessories, fashion apparels and handicrafts.
