Club Hotel Dolphin is a sprawling beach hotel highly popular with the mid-market package trade. It is situated on the north-west coast at Waikkal, 7 kms north of Negombo, only half-an-hour away from the international airport and enroute to Wilpattu game park and the cultural triangle. The city of Colombo is about 1.5 hours to the south.
Introduction
Club Hotel Dolphin, situated on 14 acres of beachfront scattered with lush tropical foliage, underwent and extensive refurbishment of its restaurants and beach villas in 2010. Following the `Club’ concept, the hotel offers numerous recreational activities ranging from kayaking to horse riding. For those wanting a quiet holiday, there is a separate section of the hotel where one can laze by the poolside and indulge in a relaxing massage. This is also an ideal property for a convenient stopover at the start or end of your holiday. Sea views are spectacular, although swimming in the ocean is not recommended due to dangerous currents.

Accommodation
The hotel has 151 rooms made up of 99 Deluxe rooms, 50 Beach Villas and two suites. Red Dot recommends the recently refurbished Beach Villas.

Deluxe Rooms: These a/c deluxe rooms are located in the main building and have private balconies or terraces that have a sea views. Rooms are equipped with cable TV, DVD player, telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility and safe. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Beach Villas: The 50 Beach Villas are scattered in the gardens with 15 having direct sea views and an additional 15 having partial sea views. The rest of the villas have garden views. Refurbished in mid-2010, the villas are equipped with wall mounted flat screen TVs with satellite channels, music system, DVD player, telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility and safe. The refurbished bathrooms are spacious and have h/w rain head showers.

Suites: The spacious suites consist of a bedroom room and sitting area, two attached bathrooms and private balcony with sea views. Suites are equipped with satellite TV, DVD player, surround sound system, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility, safe, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers.
Facilities
The main restaurant serves Sri Lankan and continental cuisine, buffet style. There is also a fine-dining seafood restaurant and five bars. The hotel has two swimming pools, one of which is gigantic and skirts around the rooms and the pool bar. The second swimming pool is located in a quiet end of the property which also has a separate poolside bar, restaurant and a spa. Activities include water aerobics, river kayaking, archery, cycling, tennis, squash, beach volleyball, croquet, horseback riding along the beach, soft-ball cricket, mini-golf and even an open air theatre where a team of animators conduct various performances. There are also plenty of board games for a rainy day and several activities for children that will keep them entertained while parents have a relaxing holiday. Other hotel facilities include a snack corner with satellite TV for watching sports, internet kiosk and business centre, spa offering a range of massages, mini-library and banquet facilities.
Excursions
Take boat trip down the Dutch canals through the quaint town of Negombo with its rich colonial heritage. Visit churches built by the Portuguese and the ruins of the Dutch Fort. Experience the culture and traditions of the coastal fishing villages and the bustle of the early morning fish auction. For those keen on bird watching, take a ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon – home to numerous species of birds and amphibians.
