Location
Hotel Country Comfort sits in a tranquil spot just below the tiny Ella Railway Station in the majestic Southern Highlands. This breathtaking terrain of tropical rainforest, lush tea plantations, majestic peaks and rushing waterfalls has temperatures akin to a sunny English spring. It is an ideal location for those yearning for a cooler, unspoilt natural setting. This is an ideal location from which to explore the sights of the southern highlands including Bandarawela and Haputale.
Introduction
Hotel Country Comfort opened for business in the mid-1990s by converting a colonial-style cottage, blessed with a pretty terraced country garden and wonderful views, into an eight-room guest house. It now offers 20 rooms, the rest in a new three-storeyed annex, which are most recommended.

Accommodation
The new wing boasts comfortable king-sized beds, attached modern bathrooms with bath and shower, marble fittings, TV, IDD phone. The old wing has simpler rooms with attached toilet facilities and h/c water.
Facilities
A limited restaurant offers varied cuisine but is most at home with traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry. Tea is served in the terraced gardens lined with flower beds. There is a business centre with Internet access and fax and indoor games (carom and chess) for a rainy day.
Excursions
Trek to the magnificent Ravana Ella situated at the edge of a forest reserve with several ancient caves. Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to the Tangamale Bird Sanctuary home to numerous species of birds and butterflies. Adisham, a Benedictine Monastery, and several waterfalls including Dunhinda and Diyaluma are all located nearby in Ella, Bandarawela, and Haputale.
