Jetwing Sea, set between two fishing hamlets at the sought-after northern end of Negombo, reopened as a 4-star beach hotel in January 2011 after an extensive refurbishment. Formerly Seashells Hotel, it is located just 20 minutes from the international airport, which also makes it an ideal first or last stop on a holiday in Sri Lanka. Colombo is about 80 minutes to the south.
Introduction
Jetwing Sea now has a bright and airy,contemporary look. Relax on Negombo’ssun-kissed beaches, take a ride on a traditional catamaran as it sails into the sunset, and by night fall enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach with the Indian Ocean lapping at your feet. JetwingSea is owned by the well-regarded Jetwing Group who also owns several other hotels in Negombo, Cultural Triangle, Galle and the hill country.

Accommodation
There are 28 Standard Rooms on the south wing and 53 Deluxe Rooms on the north wing. Room interiors are stylishly designed with timber floors, black and white murals on the walls and king sized beds dressed in fine white linen. All the rooms are spacious and have private balconies with beautiful sea views. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, plasma TV, DVD player, IDD telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffeefacility, and electronic safe. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The main dining area also has an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining with panoramic views of the ocean. Upon request, dinners are served on the beach under a starlit sky. Sri Lankan and western meals are served buffet style or a la carte. A range of wines and other alcoholic beverages are on offer. The bar and lounge area with a pool table is located by the main restaurant. Jetwing Sea has a spa that offers a range of relaxing massages. For extensive Ayurvedic wellness as well as yoga, guests are welcome to use the facilities at the hotel’s sister property, Ayurveda Pavilions which is just down the road. Other hotel facilities include two swimming pools, and awfully equipped gym.
Excursions
Visit the fishing villages mid-morning as the catamarans come ashore, filled with the night’s catch of numerous varieties of fish, prawns, crab and lobster. Pick your own seafood and the chef will cook it to your liking. Jetwing Sea has developed a supportive relationship with these fishing communities and can organise for guests to join the fisherman on their catamarans as they set sail into the sea. These traditional boats with their billowing sales are unique to this part of the island. Experience Negomob’s Colonial heritage including Catholic churches and the ruins of the Dutch Fort. Take a boat ride along the centuries old Dutch canals that winds through Negombo’s quaint town. For those interested in nature and the wilderness, take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon - home to numerous species of birds and fish, dragonflies and monitor lizards.
