Theva Residency is a 10-room boutique hotel in the peaceful Hantane mountain range with breathtaking views across the Kandyan hills. Theva provides a peaceful holiday experience 15 minutes from Kandy town, yet close enough to experience Kandy’s ancient cultural heritage. The drive from Colombo’s international airport takes approximately 3.5 hours.
Introduction
Theva is a uniquely designed boutique hotel offering luxurious accommodation, sumptuous fusion cuisine, and a personalized service. Built on a small plot of land hugging the Hantane mountains, the building design captures breathtaking mountain views throughout the hotel. The minimalist interiors are light and airy and designed with a mix of glass, wood and polished cement floors and white washed walls giving it a contemporary feel. The rooms are infused with a splash of colour and wonderful murals based around Kandy’s world-famous Perahara (Buddhist street festival or pageant). Theva is cleverly designed with its public areas and rooms scattered across four split level floors. The reception is on the ground floor with steps leading down to the restaurant. A further flight of stairs down is the swimming pool and deluxe rooms. The suites, superior rooms and penthouse are located on the upper floors. Theva is ideally suited for couples and those seeking a quite and restful holiday in the hills.

NOTE: Theva’s building design consists of many open spaces at varying heights as well as many stairways and is not recommended for young children or adults with mobility problems.

Accommodation
The 10 luxurious residential areas include a spacious apartment, two suites, three superior balcony rooms and four deluxe rooms. The rooms are furnished with double beds dressed in fine linen and accentuated with silk soft furnishings. Colourful murals based on the central Perahara theme decorate the walls of each of the rooms. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, flat screen TV with satellite channels, internet, minibar, in-room safe, tea/coffee facility, hair dryer, 24 hour in-room dining, and choice of newspaper.

Penthouse - This spacious apartment with panoramic views consists of an ensuite bedroom, living/dining area, bar, kitchen and butler service. The ensuite bathroom has a Jacuzzi. Extra bedding is provided on request. Guests can choose to cook their own meals or have the chef from the main restaurant come up and cook for them. This facility is ideal for a family, a honeymooning couple or even writers and artists who prefer to have ultimate privacy with maximum comforts.

Suites - The luxurious Theva Suites are tucked away in a private corner of the hotel, where they offer unparalleled valley views and a sense of space and privacy. In addition, the rooms have a Jacuzzi placed at an elevation overlooking the valley, giving you the chance to enjoy the view from the comfort of your soaking tub.

Superior Rooms - The balcony rooms are swathed in cool white from floor to ceiling. The only colour to be seen here are splashes of bright red, blue, yellow and orange adding just the right amount of vibrancy to the room. Each of the Superior Rooms is equipped with individual barbeque facilities; an outdoor bathtub and a lie-low from where guests can savour the amazing views afforded to them or else retreat to the indoor shower cubicle with the same view.

Deluxe Rooms - These four rooms are designed to make the most of the stunning scenery. As with all the other rooms, the subtle Perahara-themed décor provides a hint of colour.
Facilities
Theva offers an interesting range of cuisine including Sri Lankan, middle eastern, and western dishes that is popular with guests. Fresh fruit juices, home made jams and ice crèmes, freshly baked bread and a range of exotic dishes are served here prepared to your liking. Meals are served in the main restaurant overlooking the hills or in the privacy of your own room. The open-air terrace outside the main restaurant or the poolside bar is ideal for sunset cocktails. Laze by the deep blue infinity pool and take in the sun. There is also a small sauna located on the same floor. Theva doesn’t have gardens, but has palms and several ponds with a Zen feel that adds to the ambience. Other facilities at Theva include laundry service and doctor on call.
Excursions
Nature lovers, bird watchers and trekkers will enjoy the natural surroundings and going on treks into the Hanthana mountain range. Visit the nearby Tea Museum which is housed in an old tea factory run by the Sri Lanka Tea Board. On exhibit here are tea rollers, dryers and other tea factory equipment dating back to the 19C during the colonial period. The city of Kandy is steeped in history and culture. Interesting excursions include the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined; Peradeniya Botanical gardens with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; Kandy's rich arts and crafts tradition, including drum making, mat weaving, and crafting Kandyan jewelry, and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming.
