Location
Cinnamon Lakeside enjoys a central location in the heart of the city, surrounded by the waters of the Beira Lake. This pyramid-style five-star hotel stands in seven acres of landscaped gardens. Its position only a few hundred yards away from the main ocean drag of Colombo's leading hotels, provides what many regard as an enviable seclusion. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about an hour.
Introduction
Cinnamon Lakeside was recently taken over by the John Keells group of companies that also runs the excellent Cinnamon Grand in Colombo and which augers well for its future. Cinnamon Lakeside thinks big, while striving to maintain warmth that other business hotels might lack. A major refurbishment was completed recently within the lobby area, some of the rooms and restaurants creating more of a modern and stylish ambience. The new lakeside `7 degrees North’ Tapas restaurant and bar with all fresco dining, is already a much sought-after venue in Colombo. Cinnamon Lake’s landscaped gardens, stylish interiors, luxurious rooms, and array of specialty restaurants, recreational and business centre facilities, makes it ideal for business as well as leisure travellers.

Accommodation
There are 358 a/c rooms categorised as Deluxe rooms, Superior Rooms, Executive floor Rooms and Suites all with ensuite bathrooms with bathtub and h/w showers. The Superior and Deluxe rooms located on the third to the seventh floors were recently refurbished. Other in-room facilities include satellite TV, IDD telephone, mini-bar, coffee / tea making facility, internet connection, 24 hour room service and safety deposit boxes. The Executive floor located on the seventh floor, has an Executive Club lounge and 24-hour business centre that caters for the business traveller.
Facilities
Cinnamon Lakeside has four restaurants – Royal Thai offering sumptuous Thai cuisine; Long Feng serving authentic Chinese cuisine; The Dining Room which is a 24 hour coffee shop serving international cuisine, and the Goodies snack & pastry shop. Other facilities include The Library – a contemplative, book-strewn lounge by day, and a small and sumptious nightclub by night; 7 degrees North restaurant & bar, spacious lobby lounge with bar, ballroom, shopping arcade, large swimming pool with children's pool and swim-up bar, fitness and health club, three floodlit tennis courts, two a/c squash courts, volleyball, and jogging track. The Azmaara Spa offering a range of relaxing massages and beauty treatments is the latest addition to the hotel.
Excursions
This is an ideal base from which to explore Colombo including its Colonial history during the Portuguese, Dutch and the British periods in Sri Lanka. Trans Asia is located in the Fort - Colombo’s three-mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Today, it is the commercial hub of the country consisting of government offices and banks. Here, many of the old colonial buildings jostle for attention with the rest of Colombo’s modern skyline. Interesting places to visit within the Fort include the Galle Face Hotel (once the mansion of a British Governor), the Presidential Secretariat (previously the Parliament house), the General Post Office building (the Delft Gateway built during the Dutch period), and the Fort Police Station (previously a Dutch hospital), St. Peter’s Church and the Wovendaal Church located by the Grand Oriental Hotel. The brave hearted can venture out to the Pettah – the largest bazzar in the country. The capital is also famous for its shopping, especially Paradise Road, Barefoot and Odel. Golfers will enjoy the Royal Colombo Golf Club, a short 20 minute drive.
