Makunudu Island Resort, Maldives

Makunudu, with its traditional Maldivian look and feel, is situated on its own six-acre island rich in tropical vegetation surrounded by a coral reef, lagoon and the shimmering waters of the Indian Ocean. Makunudu is located on North Malé Atol which can be reached easily from Malé International Airport by a 50-minute speedboat ride.
Introduction
Makunudu’s 36 Maldivian-style cottages are tucked away in lush green vegetation with white sandy beaches just a few feet away. This is a romantic escape where guests are made to feel very much at home with breakfast served in your own cottage, on your verandah or the beach. Although there are comparably few facilities, Makunudu's reputation relies upon its beautiful location, excellent dining, and great service. Makunudu is a value for money, high-quality resort perfect for those wanting to chill rather than pursue an active holiday.

Accommodation
The 36 a/c Maldivian style deluxe cottages are decorated with Thundu Kunaa grass mats which are produced locally. All cottages have beach frontage and has a sitting and dressing area, private verandah and ensuite garden bathroom with open air h/w shower. Rooms are furnished with twin or queen size beds, wardrobe, and work desk. Other in-room facilities include ceiling fan, personal safe, mini-bar, IDD phone, hair dryer, room service and laundry service.
Facilities
Breakfast at Makunudu Island Resort is served in the privacy of your own cottage or on the beach. Ara Iru restaurant and the Sand Bar serve excellent seafood, international cuisine and snacks. There is also a small library, TV room, and a gift boutique selling suntan lotion to Maldivian souveniours. Volleyball, badminton, table tennis and indoor games are available. The Makunudu Diving School offers PADI certified diving courses. The Riya Watersports Centre offers snorkelling, water skiing, wind surfing, catamaran and dhoni sailing, and rides in a glass bottom boat.
Excursions
Explore other islands on North Male Atol. Picnic on a deserted island or go on a tour of the country’s capital city, Male. Sunset fishing and Dolphin watching excursions are also on offer at Makunudu Island Resort.
