Location
Coconut Grove is a welcoming four-bedroomed villa located inland close to the fishing village of Ahangama. Set on an acre of tropical gardens with constant birdsong, this is a tranquil setting. The beaches of Ahangama are just a five minute drive away and Galle’s historic 17th century Dutch Fort is about 30 minutes. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about four-and-a-half hours.
Introduction
Coconut Grove is a wonderful old southern home which has been caringly refurbished keeping its original architectural features of arches, verandahs and central courtyard. The interiors are a stylish blend of Dutch period antiques, plush sofas and vibrantly coloured soft furnishings and local art works. The four a/c bedrooms are compact and have ensuite bathrooms with open air dual showers for showering under a romantic starlit sky. Coconut Grove is rented on a villa only basis, ensuring complete privacy, and can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests.

Accommodation
The four double rooms are beautifully furnished with antique four-poster double beds with mosquito netting. The ensuite bathrooms are stylish with cement rendering and white porcelain fittings. Three of the bedrooms have open air dual h/w showers. The rooms open out to the surrounding gardens.
Facilities
The living area with its comfortable sofas is ideal for relaxing, perhaps whilst listening to some music. The owner’s twin deck ipod mixer is available for guests. An open-sided pavillion set amidst flowering plants, is set for dining. Snacks and drinks are also served by the poolside. There is a fully-equipped kitchen if you would like to cook your own meals or if you prefer there is a cook. Fresh fish, vegetables and other produce can be purchased from the village market or a nearby grocery shop. The swimming pool is located in tranquil back gardens filled with fruit trees that attract plenty of birds and the occasional monkey.
Excursions
Explore the surrounding rural village with its wayside boutiques, lush green paddyfields and ancient temples. Bikes can be rented from Idle Tours nearby and will be delivered to Coconut Grove for your use. For those interested in surfing and watersports, the beaches of Unawatuna and Mirissa are ideal. Water sports on offer include sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkeling and boating. Koggala Lake, with its many tiny islands inhabited with several species of birds, is another wonderful experience. We recommend a visit to the historic 17th Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries and several boutique hotels.
