It tends to use simpler accommodation than the Tailor-made Birding Holiday - although you can make any changes that you wish. It takes you through some of the island’s most fascinating locations including coastal wetlands, rainforests and the soaring peaks of the hill country in search of exotic species of birds. Sri Lanka is a butterfly lover’s paradise. A total of 245 species have been recorded, 21 of them found only on the island. This is a journey through Sri Lanka’s wetlands and forest reserves in search of the island’s butterflies - from the largest Ceylon Birdwing with the wing span ranging from 95 to 135mm, to the smallest - the Grass Jewel which measures only 8-13mm. You can approach this tour as a chance for serious study or a relaxed amble around some of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful rural spots – as ever, we will adjust the mood to suit your own needs.
