Presidential Awards for Travel and Tourism in 2007

The five-star hotel has a central location on Galle Road and every available amenity. There’s a fitness centre, a big outdoor swimming pool, several restaurants and a spacious lobby with a piano bar and confectionary. Attractive rooms are built around an enormous atrium. It’s attached to the Crescat Boulevard plaza, which makes shopping easy.

Cinnamon Grand Hotel was a pleasant stay - Rooms were not the greatest - very much the standard tourist hotel room - but the restaurants were really good. We had some excellent meals there. On first impressions we had a bit of a sinking feeling, as the lobby area is in dire need of a make over and it is pretty shabby - but service was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. If I had to choose again though, I would not stay in the Cinnamon as I feel it is a "businessman's hotel" - ideal for conferences and tour groups - but not for couples on holiday.

Mar 17, 2008 : My stay in Cinnamon Hotel was a disaster with many problems. If I go back to Sri Lanka I will never stay again in this hotel or recommend to anyone. They have lost the charm when they opened the years before, inflexible, bad service I had to call some of my friends in Sri Lanka to put pressure on them for better room better floor etc... The rate I paid was very high even I asked them to add some more $$ to change to the other side they refused. Honestly the Cinnamon needs a new GM before everyone walks away.

Feb 27, 2008 : The stay at the Cinnamon was really pleasant. It was very good and had all the facilities we needed with two young kids. We could not fault the stay and would definitely go there again if we needed a hotel in Colombo. It could match any five star hotel we have stayed in Dubai or the UK if not better than some. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had not problems whatsoever.
