Location
Landa is a peaceful eco-retreat situated on two acres of beautifully landscape gardens in the rural village of Seelogama nearby Belihuloya. Being the transitional point where the wet and dry zones are linked, this is an area rich in its bio-diversity and is an ideal retreat for nature lovers. Belihuloya is situated enroute to the southern highlands, Arugam Bay on the south east coast, and the Deep South via Wellawaya. The distance from Colombo to Belihuloya is 160 kms and will take about three hours.
Introduction
Landa is the vision of its owner, a Dutch landscape artist who’s passion for nature, plants and landscaping of garden spaces extends from the countryside of France to now the lush tropics of Belihuloya. Landa is immersed in tropical foliage, colourful flower beds, luminous green paddy fields and organically grown vegetable fields. Tranquility reigns supreme here interspersed with the soothing sound of flowing water, bird song and the distant chatter of farmers as they harvest their paddy fields. The Kiriwanalanda stream which is a tributary of the Belihul Oya (river), flows at the edge of the Landa estate. Accommodation is in solidly-built terracotta and timber cottages. Sri Lankan rice and curries are served here cooked by an `archchi’ – elder from the village in true traditional style over a hearth and served in clay pots.

Accommodation
There are three separate cottages with each consisting of two double bedrooms that are well furnished and have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers. Fans help to keep the rooms cool and comfortable. All rooms are equipped with tea/coffee facilities, some have TV, and all have separate entrances.

Cottage 1: Consists of two double rooms and each has a unique timber loft that can accommodate an additional guest. These rooms are linked by a long balcony overlooking the gardens and stream that flows at the edge of the property.

Cottage 2:This two-storey cottage has a double room on the upper floor that is very much of a romantic escape. This room has a private balcony overlooking the gardens and is furnished with a canopied antique four poster bed. The lower level room has a king-sized bed with private balcony overlooking the stream and has an open plan bathroom.

Cottage 3: Located closer to the restaurant and has two double rooms with separate entrances. These rooms open on to private gardens.
Facilities
There is a small restaurant where traditional Sri Lankan cuisine is served in clay pots. Meals are prepared with fresh vegetables picked from their own organic farm. Snacks and a few western dishes are also on offer. Wifi internet facility is available in the restaurant area. The beautifully landscaped gardens with its meandering pathways and waterways are perfect for evening strolls, bird watching or just quiet contemplation. There are several nearby treks. The Manager at Landa is well versed with the surrounding area and will accompany guests on treks upon request.
Excursions
The village of Belihul Oya is named after the `Oya’ or small river that flows through here. This river originates on Hortain Plains and creates some scenic waterfalls along the way including the Baker’s Falls. Flowing through diverse eco-systems, the Belihul Oya finally flows into the scenic Samanalawewa Reservoir. There are several adventurous treks that originate at Belihul Oya which takes you through rural villages, paddy fields and ends up at the waterfalls or reservoir. Bird watching, butterfly and dragonfly spotting is highly rewarding here.
