Location
Situated in the fishing village of Thiranagama, just a few minutes from the coastal city of Hikkaduwa, Ocean View Cottage is a family run beach guest house that is clean and comfortable. Located a few minutes away from the Hikkaduwa railway station, Ocean View Cottage is about 2 ½ hours drive from Colombo. The historic city of Galle is just 30 minutes from here.
Introduction
This welcoming beach front guest house is approved by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and is perfectly located to explore the beautiful beaches and cultural heritage of the West coast. The Sri Lankan owners live on the premises ensuring a personalized service and a homely feel.

Accommodation
This 3 storey guest house has 12 bedrooms - 8 doubles and 4 triple rooms all with ensuite bathrooms. 10 of the rooms have sea views and private balconies and are located on the first and second floors. The two ground floor rooms open out to the front entranceway. All rooms are airconditioned and have overhead ceiling fans for whose wanting to open the windows and let the sea breeze in. Rooms are furnished with twin beds, mosquito netting, and mini bar. The bathrooms have hot and cold water showers, sink, and w/c.
Facilities
The ground floor consists of the public areas including a dining hall which opens out to the garden and swimming pool and a small reception area. There is also a TV, international dialing, and internet facilities in the reception area. The poolside and the garden are also used for relaxing and outdoor dining. Sri Lankan rice and curries and Western meals are served here. Soft drinks are available. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Excursions
Situated on the palm-fringed west coast beach, and conveniently located close to many fun filled experiences, Hikkaduwa has some of the best surfing beaches and a wide range of water sports including diving over coral reefs, snorkeling, and windsurfing. Bentota’s lagoon is ideal for jet skiing, water skiing, and boat trips along the river. Visit the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Project, which is a pioneering effort in conserving the endangered Marine Turtle species that come to nest in along the west coast of the island. These coastal towns and villages also share a vibrant cultural heritage including folklore, music, and dance forms. Many temples, kovils, churches, and mosques are situated along the coast. Cottage industries such as basket weaving, mask carving, and small shops selling Dutch antiques - furniture, lamps and ornaments, makes for interesting way side shopping. The historical town of Galle, with its 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site, is a short drive from Hikkaduwa. With its well-preserved ramparts overlooking the cricket stadium, lighthouse staring into the Indian Ocean, narrow streets and, interesting restaurants and boutique hotels full of character, Galle deserves a visit.
