Taj Samudra is a Colombo five-star hotel situated in overlooking Galle Face Green and the Indian Ocean. Recently refurbished, this extensive hotel is situated on 12 acres of landscaped gardens and is an ideal resting point at the start or the end of your holiday in Sri Lanka. The drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport will take abut one hour.
Introduction
The imposing frontage of Taj Samudra, one of the first city hotels in Colombo, is a well known city landmark. Owned by the Taj group of hotels, its interiors are a mix of Indian ethnic design and modern day living. The hotel offers luxurious rooms and suites, several restaurants serving Indian, Chinese, Western, and Sri Lankan cuisine and business and conference facilities.

There are 292 a/c rooms and suites with ensuite bathrooms and private balconies. Rooms are well furnished with double beds and has satellite TV, VCR/DVD, IDD telephone, mini-bar, and tea/coffee making facilities.

Pool/Sea facing rooms: Light and airy, these rooms have magnificent sea views. Executive Floor Rooms: These rooms offers guests access to the executive lounge, which serves complimentary breakfast and cocktails, and boardroom.

Executive Suites: These spacious two-room suites are luxurious and also offer access to the executive lounge facilities and boardrooms.

Luxury Suites: These suites have a separate bedroom and living room opening out to a private balcony with sea views.

Presidential Suites: These two-room suites offer separate dining, dressing areas, and private balconies overlooking the sea.
Facilities
Taj Samudra’s restaurants – Navaratana, Golden Dragon and Port of Call -- are popular dining venues in Colombo. There are several bars, a night club, and nine banquet rooms for private functions. Other facilities include a swimming pool, fitness centre, tennis court, squash court, shopping arcade, hair salon, doctor-on-call, laundry & dry cleaning service, florist, and travel desk. A well equipped business centre with secretarial services and conference facilities makes Taj Samudra also an efficient business hotel.
Excursions
Experience Colombo’s colonial heritage. The Fort and Pettah, originally built in 16C by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British, is today the main commercial hub, consisting of the country’s largest wholesale bazaar with a maze of lanes and small shops; banks and government offices some which are housed in old colonial buildings; Dutch period churches and a museum. The capital is , especially Paradise Road, Barefoot and ODEL. Golfers will enjoy the Royal Colombo Golf Club, a short 15-minute drive.
