Location
Palm Beach is a small five bedroomed guest house with a homely feel situated just five minutes stroll away from the secluded beaches of Uppuveli. The pristine white beaches here are perfect for swimming and snorkeling from March to October. The fishing village of Uppuveli is situated four miles north of Trincomalee and just before Nilaveli. Trincomalee can be accessed on the A6 route from Habarana in the Cultural Triangle and takes about 2.5 hours. The journey from Colombo will take approximately 6.5 hours via Habarana.
Introduction
Palm Beach is a homely guest house run by an Italian couple – Dona and Luca who takes pride in their home cooked Italian cuisine and personal service. Their garden restaurant is popular and the rooms clean and comfortable and opens out to the front garden. Although situated away from the sea, a five minute barefoot stroll along a gravel roadway takes you to the beach and the calm seas which is perfect for swimming during most of the year.

Accommodation
The five a/c double bedrooms are spacious and furnished with single or double beds fitted with mosquito netting. The rooms open out to a front verandah. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
An informal open sided lounge area and restaurant is located in the garden under the shade of coconut palms. Sri Lankan and Italian cuisine is served here including seafood specialties with fresh prawns, crab and lobster purchased daily straight from the fisherman. The Italian meals are prepared by Donna using traditional family recipes and is popular with those who know this area well. Telephone facilities and internet is available at the office.
Excursions
Take boat ride out to Pigeon Island a fabulous site for snorkelling. Explore Trincomalee town with a deep rooted history. Visit Fort Frederick, first used by the Portuguese in 1624, followed by the Dutch and later by the British. At the northern tip of Fort Frederick is a cliff known as “Swami Rock” which drops around 360 feet (110 meters) directly into the sea below. On its topmost pinnacle is the Tirukonesvaram Hindu Kovil. Colourful “Poojas” or religious services are conducted here at dusk. The view of the natural harbour and the Indian Ocean is breathtaking from this location.
