Location
Glenross is a rarity – an traditional planters’ bungalow outside the central highlands. It is about 45 minutes inland from the west-coast town of Kalutara and is set on a 60-acre rubber estate with magnificent mountain views. Although the access road is steep and winding, the journey is fully worth it. We recommend that you spend a minimum of two nights at Glenross in order to experience the surrounding nature and plantation life. The journey from the international airport will take up to 2.5 hours.
Introduction
Glenross is the sister property to the five-star Blue Waters beach hotel in Wadduwa, and has long been the holiday home of the Sri Lankan owners. This century-old plantation bungalow has been caringly refurbished maintaining its old architectural features including Georgian windows, gabled roofs, and stone walls. The interiors are tastefully decorated with Dutch period antiques and plush sofas. The bungalow is rented per room or in its entirety and can accommodate up to eight adults. Extra beds are put in for children. Rooms are spacious and there are plenty of lounging and dining spaces to ensure privacy. A chef trained at the Blue Waters prepares meals. Relax by the poolside amidst tall trees and the sound of birdcall; have high tea on the front lawn gazing across the magnificent mountain views; or go a nature trek through the rubber plantation.

Accommodation
This two-storey bungalow has four suites – two on the ground floor and two upstairs. All suites are spacious and consist of a bedroom, reading room and ensuite bathroom with bathtub and h/w shower. Two of the rooms have a/c and all have ceiling fans. Rooms are furnished with king size beds, a writing desk, and reclining chairs.
Facilities
The ground floor as well as the upper floor has spacious lounge areas. There are several dining options including within the privacy of your own room, in the main dining room, outside patio, poolside or the front garden overlooking the mountains. Sri Lankan and western cuisine is on offer here prepared with fresh meats, seafood and vegetables purchased daily. The swimming pool is located at the back of the house overlooking the rubber estate. The landscaped gardens surrounding the bungalow are full of ferns, flowers and fruit trees that attract plenty of birds. There is also a small basketball court. For a relaxing massage, a therapist from the Blue Waters spa can visit Glenross with prior notice.
Excursions
The surrounding 60 acres of rubber and tea plantation is ideal for nature walks. A mountain trek can be done accompanied by one of the staff from the bungalow. Observe as the villagers go about their morning work of rubber tapping, followed by a visit to the nearby Glenross factory where the rubber is processed.
