Lake Lodge is a stylish city guesthouse overlooking Colombo’s Beira Lake. Centrally located down a by-lane in Colombo 3, it is also the family home of Nayantara Fonseka, also known as Taru, who is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost lifestyle designers. Lake Lodge begins to answer Colombo’s need for classy and characterful guest-house accommodation. The journey from the international airport will take about one hour.
Introduction
Lake Lodge has been caringly renovated by Taru with her usual exquisite design flare. Polished cement walls and floors, timber roof, local art and sculpture, and plush sofas gives Lake Lodge a stylish and contemporary look. There are plenty of spaces to relax and unwind including open-air terraces and bar. Guest rooms are well equipped with all modern conveniences. With wi-fi facilities throughout the property, Lake Lodge is even suitable for business travellers who prefer a more homely option to a city hotel. The property overlooks a public space and the Beira Lake beyond and is walking distance to shops, restaurants and the famous Gangarama Temple.

Accommodation
There are 12 double a/c rooms and one Garden Suite. All rooms are furnished with built in cement beds, dressed in fine white linen. Some rooms have day beds that can sleep an additional person. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w rain showers. In room facilities include a/c and cable TV. The Garden Suite is more spacious and has a sitting area that opens out to a small courtyard. Additional facilities include cable TV and mini-bar.
Facilities
The ground floor has two lounge areas and the upper floor has two open air terraces which are ideal for relaxing or dining. There is also an indoor restaurant and bar which serves a range of cocktails and other beverages. The in-house menu consists of a range of Sri Lankan, western and fusion dishes. If you can’t find what you want on the menu, the chef will be happy to prepare the meal according to your wishes. The entire property has is wi-fi internet facilities and the office area has a fax. Lake Lodge has its own trishaw. There is no swimming pool here.
Excursions
Colombo is a compact and manageable city that is easily explored. Shops, restaurants, Buddhist temples and Hindu Kovils, art galleries, and the National Museum are all just a few minutes away. Experience Colombo’s colonial architecture with a visit to the Fort - Colombo's three-mile long rampart cordoning off the area covered by today’s Fort and Pettah. Fort was originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Today, it is the commercial hub of the country, consisting of government offices, banks, five-star hotels and the country’s largest wholesale bazaar, which sells a huge range of items. In the Fort many of the old colonial buildings still stand alongside a slowly modernizing skyline.
