Taprospa Tymawr is a small three-bedroom bungalow within the Labookelle Tea Estate in Nuwara Eliya. The 1,300 acre Labookelle tea estate spreads along 12 kms on the western slopes of the Pidurutalagala mountain range. Nuwara Eliya, an old colonial hill station, lies more than 2,000 metres above sea level. The drive from Kandy is about three hours.
Introduction
Taprospa Tymawr, one of three bungalows owned by the Mackwood Group, is a cozy and compact tea bungalow which is ideal for a family or even a couple on a romantic holiday. Relax in the garden and take in the magnificent views of the surrounding tea covered hills and mountain peaks. The bungalow can accommodate up to six guests and is rented to one party at a time to ensure privacy. The bungalow is reached via a series of downhill steps and would be difficult to access for those with mobility difficulties.

Accommodation
There are three bedrooms of which one is ensuite and the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. All have double beds and colourful soft furnishings. Two open out to a small strip of garden and wonderful views across the tea hills.
Facilities
The living and dining area has a fire place which is lit on a cold night. A small strip of garden skirts around the bungalow which is edged by sloping tea hills. There is a small kitchen equipped with a fridge and cooker. Tymawr comes with a cook and caretaker. Guests can choose to prepare their own meals or the cook will be happy to prepare Sri Lankan rice and curries. Fresh up-country vegetables can be purchased from the nearby village and meats from Nuwara Eliya. Freshly brewed Mackwoods tea, straight from the tea gardens, is available free of charge at any time of day. Other facilities include satellite TV and telephone.
Excursions
Guests are offered a tour of the Labookelle tea estate and given an opportunity to experience tea plucking and tea tasting. Go on a day’s excursion to Nuwara Eliya with its leafy by-lanes edged with colonial period mansions. Play a round of golf at the 125 year old Nuwara Eliya Golf club. The challenging 18-hole golf course was built by a Scottish soldier in 1889. The clubhouse and bar is an atmospheric place to enjoy a drink and meal after your round. Other activities in Nuwara Eliya include horse riding, boating in Lake Gregory, bird watching and nature treks.
