Taprospa Labookelle is a three-bedroom refurbished colonial period bungalow situated amidst a working tea estate in Nuwara Eliya. This 1,300 acre tea estate spreads along 12 kms on the western slopes of the Pidurutalagala mountain range. Nuwara Eliya, an old colonial hill station, lies more than 2,000 metres above sea level. The drive from Kandy is about 90 minutes.
Introduction
Taprospa Labookelle is one of three tea bungalows owned by Mackwoods and is situated right next door to the Mackwoods Labookelle Tea Centre and factory making it easy for guests to hop across and learn of the world famous Ceylon Tea. The Labookelle bungalow maintains its colonial charm with wooden floors and fire places and is refurbished with plush sofas, Jacuzzis and other modern comforts making it a homely and comfortable hill country retreat.

Accommodation
There are three ensuite bedrooms all with garden views. The spacious Master bedroom is furnished with a king-size antique bed and opens out to the back verandah and spectacular views across the tea gardens and mountains beyond. The other two double rooms are somewhat smaller and are comfortably furnished with queen size beds, lounge chair and work desk. Every room has a fireplace and electric heater. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers and a Jacuzzi bath tub by the window that lets you gaze over miles of tea-covered hills as you indulge in a spa bath.
Facilities
The living room has armchairs and sofas by the fireplace. The foyer is equipped with satellite TV, home theatre system, DVD player and a pool table. There is also a computer for guests to use, telephone with IDD, fax, and internet facility. Meals are served in the dining room and, if it is a nice sunny day, lunch is served on the verandah. Discuss your meal preferences ahead of time and the chef will ensure delicious dishes are prepared using fresh, up-country vegetables and meats. A selection of Sri Lankan and international cuisine is on offer here. Learn to cook Sri Lankan curries. Alcoholic beverages are available here and freshly brewed Mackwoods tea straight from the factory next door is available at any time of day. Unwind with a relaxing massage or a spa bath in the privacy of your own bedroom. The Labookelle tea bungalow comes with its own butler, chef, and caretaker that will ensure you have a relaxing holiday.
Excursions
Guests can take a tour of the Labookelle tea estate and experience tea plucking and tea tasting. Go on a day’s excursion to Nuwara Eliya with its leafy by lanes edged with colonial period mansions. Play a round of golf at the 125 year old Nuwara Eliya Golf club. The challenging 18-hole golf course was built by a Scottish soldier in 1889. The clubhouse and bar is an atmospheric place to enjoy a drink and meal after your round. Other activities in Nuwara Eliya include horse riding, boating in Lake Gregory, bird watching and nature treks.
