The Patio, Biyagama
Location
The Patio is a luxurious villa situated amidst tranquil gardens in the town of Biyagama, 30 minutes away from Colombo, en route to Kandy. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take up to one hour.
Introduction
Situated amidst tranquil surroundings, overlooking vast paddy fields that attract plenty of birds, The Patio has minimalist interiors and fitted with all modern conveniences. Laze by the swimming pool, dine alfresco style on the terrace and just relax and rejuvenate after a long flight. The Patio can comfortably accommodate up to six guests. It can be booked per room or in its entirety on a full-board basis and is only given to one party at a time to ensure privacy.

Accommodation
Three well-designed a/c bedrooms open to gardens. The Master bedroom is ensuite, with a king size four-poster bed, LCD TV/ DVD, iPod docking station and a selection of CDs. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom and are furnished with Queen-size beds. All bathrooms have open air h/w rain showers.
Facilities
The living room with its plush sofas opens out to a patio overlooking the swimming pool. The living room is equipped with a music system, library with interesting titles on Sri Lanka, and plenty of board games for children and adults alike. Dine indoors in the formal dining room, alfresco style by the poolside or under the shade of tall tropical trees. Sri Lankan and western dishes are served here prepared with locally purchased fresh meats, seafood and vegetables. The Patio is staffed with a chef and housekeeper.
Excursions
Half an hour away is the ancient Kelaniya temple situated alongside the Kelani River. According to Buddhist chronicles, Lord Buddha visited this ancient temple whilst on a visit to Sri Lanka in 523 BC. This temple is also famous for its image of the reclining Buddha and paintings which depict important events in the life of the Buddha and history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Explore the city of Colombo with its scattering of restaurants, shops, temples and kovils. Experience its colonial architecture with a visit to the Fort - Colombo’s three-mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Today, it is the commercial hub of the country consisting of government offices, banks, five-star hotels and the country’s largest wholesale bazaar. Here, many of the old colonial buildings jostle for attention with the rest of Colombo’s modern skyline.
