Location
Ayubowan Guesthouse is a much-praised little guesthouse in Negombo. It has a peaceful aspect, a 10-minute stroll away from the resort’s golden beaches, informal restaurants and beachside cafes. It offers a great budget option for your first or last stop on a holiday to Sri Lanka. Negombo is only 20 minutes away from the international airport and ithe capital city of Colombo is, at most, 1.5 hours away.
Introduction
This guesthouse attracts excellent feedback. The English owners, Ron and Brenda, run a well-appointed and spotlessly-clean guesthouse and treat guests with a warmth and familiarity that charms many. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is prepared to your liking. Relax by the poolside or take a stroll to the beach and discover Negombo’s catamarans and fishing villages. Ayubowan Guesthouse is ideal for couples or friends travelling together. Children below 12 years are not encouraged.

Accommodation
There are four rooms of which two ensuite double rooms are located on the ground floor. There are two more rooms on the upper floor which share a bathroom and a sitting area with satellite TV. These two rooms are usually given out to only one party at a time and are ideal for families. All rooms have a/c, ceiling fan, double or twin beds fitted with mosquito netting, bathrobe and slippers. The bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The living room downstairs is equipped with satellite TV and also has a small library and office area in one corner equipped with computer and internet facilities. Guests can choose to dine in the main dining room or on the verandah outdoors overlooking the swimming pool and nicely landscaped gardens. Sri Lankan and western cuisine is served here and is personally supervised by the owners. Discuss your meal preferences ahead of time and delicious dishes will be prepared to your liking with fresh vegetables and seafood purchased directly from the local fisherman. Guests are welcome to join in on shopping trips to the village. There are several small beachside cafes along the way where you can stop for a cool beer.
Excursions
Ride on a catamaran as it sets sail in to the sunset or take boat ride along the centuries old Dutch canals that winds through Negombo’s quaint town. Experience Negomob’s Colonial heritage including Catholic churches and the ruins of the Dutch Fort. Visit the harbour early morning to see the catamarans come ashore, filled with the night’s catch of numerous varieties of fish, prawns, crab and lobster. For those interested in nature and the wilderness, take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon - home to numerous species of birds and fish, dragon flies and monitor lizards.
