The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
Wijaya Beach can boast one of the most loved beach restaurants on the Galle Coast. Its laid-back ambience and sumptuous, uncomplicated food makes it a popular meeting place for tourists in the know, ex pats and locals. Sri Lankan owner Mahendra is an experienced chef and personally supervises the meals. Most guests prefer to spend an entire day here with even a dip in the sea right in front of Wijaya Beach where the coral reef forms a wonderful natural rock pool. Wijaya Beach offers comfortable a/c rooms at a decent price.
There are six spacious double rooms opening out to private balconies with sea views. Room interiors are well furnished with king-size four-poster beds, a built-in sofa that can be used as a day bed and writing desk. Spend your time on the balcony taking in the spectacular sea views. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, and modern ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.
The small beachside restaurant offers a range of Sri Lankan, western and fusion cuisine; delicious pizzas, fresh juices and alcoholic beverages. Seafood is a specialty here and is purchased directly from the local fisherman. Safe swimming in the sea is possible during the season in the natural rock pool right in front of Wijaya Beach. A few minutes stroll down the beach is Unawatuna Bay where numerous watersports are on offer including deep-sea fishing. Wijaya Beach has surf boards and can organise scuba diving, snorkelling, and boating excursions.
Wijaya Beach is a laid-back, beach side guesthouse a few miles south of Unawatuna Bay on the Galle Coast. Galle’s Dutch Fort is just 15 minutes away. The journey from Colombo’s airport will take about 2.5 hours via the Southern Highway.
