Galle Heritage Villa is a four-bedroomed boutique hotel within Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort. The villa is centrally situated on Lighthouse Street close to shops, small art galleries, museums and cafes. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take upto two hours via the Southern Expressway or consider taking the Air Taxi which lands at Koggola just 15 minutes from here.
Introduction
Galle Heritage Villa is spacious and is designed with high timber roofs, columns, courtyards and verandas with a small strip of front and back gardens. The interiors are tastefully decorated with antiques and colourful soft furnishings. Galle Heritage Villa is managed by the reputed Jetwing Group who also owns several hotels on the North West coast, Cultural Triangle, Galle and the hill country.

Accommodation
All four suites are spacious and equipped with a/c, cable TV, twin or double beds dressed in fine linen and work desk. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers and some have bathtubs.

Suites 1 & 2: these two upper-floor suites open out to a balcony overlooking the back garden. Suite 1 has a king size four-poster bed and Suite 2 has twin beds. The ensuite bathrooms are spacious and have twin vanities, h/w showers and bathtubs.

Suites 3 & 4: These are on the ground floor. Suite 3 opens out to the living room and small side courtyard and is furnished with a king side bed. Suite 4 is a twin room which opens out to the front verandah and small strip of garden. This rooms has two antique four-poster beds. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The ground floor has a sprawling living and dining area furnished with sofas and 10-seater dining table. The large show kitchen/pantry has another dining table that seats eight. Sri Lankan and international cuisine is served. Other facilities include a games room, wifi internet facility, safety deposit box, luggage storage, room service and laundry service. There is no swimming pool. However, there are some fine beaches nearby just outside the Fort, including Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa where there are plenty of watersports on offer including scuba diving and snorkelling. Safe swimming is possible in the ocean during the season from December to April.
Excursions
Galle Heritage Villa is an ideal base from which to explore this fascinating 17C Dutch Fort. Hours can be spent exploring the maze of narrow streets lined with Dutch and British period buildings, the sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, and a growing collection of art galleries, antique shops and restaurants.
