Satori is an exquisitely refurbished Colonial period villa situated 15 minutes inland from the scenic Galle coast. Set on a hill in the rural village of Polduwa overlooking the valley and paddy fields, Satori is ideal for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The beaches of Unawatuna are just 15 minutes away and Galle’s Dutch Fort is 4 kms away. The journey from Colombo’s airport will take upto four hours or take the Air Taxi, which offers flights from the Bandaranaike International Airport directly to Koggala which is only a few minutes away from Satori Villa.
Introduction
'Satori' meaning a moment of presence or a sudden spiritual awakening in Zen Buddhism, is a tranquil holiday retreat where mind and body wellness and relaxation is paramount. Time here is unhurried and the day unfolds as you please. Relax with a rejuvenating massage or lounge by the poolside under the shade of tropical trees. Satori villa is a Dutch colonial period bungalow that has been refurbished maintaining its original architectural elements of verandahs and courtyards. Interiors are a tasteful blend of Sri Lankan and Oriental design and decorated with antique furniture, colourful cushions, and ethnic art and sculptures. Satori is spread over 2.5 acres of lush tropical gardens overlooking the valley below and consists of the main villa and the coach house. The villa is rented to one party at a time ensuring complete privacy and can comfortably accommodate upto eight guests.

Accommodation
Satori has four a/c luxurious suites located in the main villa and the Coach house. All rooms have a/c and overhead ceiling fans and are stylishly furnished with four poster beds fitted with mosquito netting.

Main villa: Has three a/c bedrooms – two suites and a double room. The suites are spacious and furnished with four poster beds. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers. The third room is furnished with two junior antique four poster beds and has a mezzanine floor with additional bedding. This room is ideal for children and can accommodate upto four children. This bedroom has an attached outdoor bathroom with h/w shower. All rooms in the main villa open out to the front verandah that skirts around the house overlooking the gardens.

Coach house: Set apart from the main villa, the upper floor of the Coach House consists of an open plan, spacious suite with living, dining and dressing areas. The surrounding half walls with timber balustrade and flowing muslin curtains, allows for scenic views across the gardens. This suite is furnished with two antique four poster double beds, comfortable sofas, and writing desk. There is a separate single room which can be used as a children’s room or as a quiet reading room, yoga or meditation room.
Facilities
The main villa has a living area opening out to the verandah and the swimming pool. This area is equipped with a library full of interesting titles, TV, DVD library, iPod docking station, board games, computer and internet facility. There is a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. The infinity pool is situated amidst landscaped gardens overlooking breathtaking scenery. A garden pavilion provides a tranquil setting for relaxing massages, yoga and meditation. A range of relaxing and wellness Ayurvedic treatments are on offer at Satori. Yoga and guided meditation sessions are organised with prior notice. Satori has a team of staff including a cook who will be happy to prepare Sri Lankan rice and curries cooked according to traditional village recipes and western dishes. Only breakfast is included in the villa rate. For other meals and beverages, guests can do the grocery shopping and prepare the meals themselves or relax on your holiday and let the staff do it all for you.
Excursions
Take a walk into the Polduwa village pass paddy fields, wayside boutiques, and the village temple. Take in the sun and surf at Unawatuna or Mirissa where a range of watersports including snorkelling, surfing and diving is on offer. Visit to the historic 17th century Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries, shops, restaurants and several boutique hotels.
