Regent Lodge is a welcoming three-bedroom guesthouse just 10 minutes from the centre of Kandy. The house is on a hillock with spectacular views of the surrounding Kandyan hills and the Mahaweli River at a distance. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about 3.5 hours.
Introduction
Regent Lodge is essentially a homestay with the Sri Lankan owners living in the same premises and sharing their way of life with guests. The spacious house is on split levels with the living room occupying the entire ground floor; dining room and one bedroom at a level below; and further down three more double bedrooms opening out to a back garden. Traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and a few western dishes are supervised by the owner herself. Regent Lodge is peaceful with a homely feel. Up to eight guests can be accommodated. Additional bedding can be arranged for children.

The four a/c double rooms furnished with double or twin beds, opening out a small verandah. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The living room opens out to wonderful mountain and river views. There are quiet nooks in the living room to relax with a cup of tea and take in the sunsets. The dining room also has an outdoor verandah. Meals times are flexible here. Guests, should they wish, can learn to cook traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Other facilities include cable TV, IDD telephone, internet access and doctor-on-call.
Excursions
Walk by the winding Mahaweli River. En route, stop to watch the elephants being bathed in the river. Experience Kandy’s ancient cultural heritage with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined; other ancient Buddhist temples including Gadaladeniya, Lankathilaka, and Embekke; Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; and Kandy’s rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, crafting Kandyan jewelry and traditional Kandyan dance and drumming.
