The five-star Hilton Hotel occupies a prime seven-acre site overlooking the Indian Ocean and Beira Lake, and a short stroll away from Colombo's commercial hub. It enhances the Hilton's reputation for high-class facilities and a traditional elegance in the heart of the city. The journey from the international airport is about one hour.
Introduction
Set within Colombo Fort - a three-mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British, the modern Hilton building stands between the government Treasury - housed in a spectacular 17th century Colonial building in front and the modern twin towers of Colombo's World Trade Centre on the side. The rooms provide extensive views of Colombo Fort, the Beira Lake and the Indian Ocean. Convenient overhead walkways link the hotel to its separate sports and recreational facilities as well as the World Trade Centre which houses banks, airline offices, restaurants and cafes.

Accommodation
All Hilton Colombo hotel rooms - from Rooms to Suites are spacious with seating area and work desk. The art-deco style rooms are light with large windows that provide for surrounding views of Colombo Fort and are equipped with all modern amenities including high-speed internet access. The ensuite marble bathrooms are luxurious and have showers and bathtubs. The more spacious Suites have larger living areas and have access to the Executive Lounge which serves complimentary breakfast and refreshments. The executive suites also offer a butler service, private check-in and check-out and internet access.
Facilities
Hilton Colombo is famous for its six specialty restaurants (regarded the best in the city) including Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Middle Eastern and Indian, Sri Lankan and the recently opened Spoons restaurant - serving international cuisine within a contemporary setting. Enjoy high tea at the Thorana Lounge overlooking tropical foliage and cascading ponds filled with swans and koi carp - a view that is also shared by the extensive coffee shop. The Echelon Pub provides a colonial style setting for guests to relax while sipping beers, playing pool or watching sports on TV. Hilton Colombo has a separate sports and recreational facility with a fully equipped fitness centre, sauna, hydro pool, Jacuzzi, and a 90 ft. long swimming pool and kid's pool. A well equipped 24 hour business centre is located in the hotel lobby. The Hilton shopping gallery has an array of shops where one can purchase tea to precious jewelry.
Excursions
The Fort and Pettah, originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British, today, is the main commercial hub consisting of the country's largest wholesale bazaar with a maze of by lanes and small shops; banks and government offices some which are housed in old colonial buildings; Dutch period churches and museum. The capital is also famous for its shopping, especially Paradise Road, Barefoot and Odels. Golfers will enjoy the Royal Colombo Golf Club, a short 20 minute drive.
