Peacock Beach is a mid-range beachside hotel in the coastal town of Hambantota in the deep south, particularly convenient for the international cricket stadium in nearby Sooriyaweva. Bundala bird sanctuary is 20 minutes away and Yala National Park about an hour. Hambantota can be accessed via the south coast or from the hill country via Wellawaya.
Introduction
Peacock Beach is a sprawling, 112-room hotel with an extensive beach frontage on one side and lush tropical gardens on the other. The ocean here is not safe for swimming due to undercurrents, but there is a swimming pool.

Accommodation
Rooms are spread across three wings: Bundala, Harbour and Yala, all with private balconies and sea views. The 112 rooms includes Standard and Deluxe rooms and two Suites all opening out to private balconies with sea views. Standard in-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, cable TV, IDD telephone, room service and laundry service. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Standard Rooms: The 45 Standard Rooms are located in the Harbour wing and Bundala wing and have sea views. Interiors have twin or double beds.

Deluxe Rooms: The 25 Deluxe rooms are located in the Yala wing and have sea views. In addition to the standard in-room facilities, these rooms also have tea/coffee facility, mini-bar, and ensuite bathrooms with bathtub and h/w shower.

Suites: The two suites, named Blue Sapphire and Pink Sapphire, are spacious and consists of a bedroom, lounge /dining area and private balcony with sea views.
Facilities
Sri Lankan and international cuisine is served at the Monara restaurant; Werala beach restaurant offers a range of seafood dishes; and the Lihiniya coffee shop and bar is good for light snacks and beverages. There is a roof terrace with spectacular sea views and swimming pool by the seaside. The front gardens are extensive and scattered with fruit trees that attracts a variety of birds. Other hotel facilities include outdoor games such as badminton, beach volleyball, indoor games including snooker/pool, conference facilities, internet access, shopping arcade and helipad.
Excursions
Visit the nearby international cricket stadium in Sooriyaweva. Tissamaharama with its ancient Buddhist temples and lotus filled lakes and the sacred shrine of Kataragama also can be accessed from here. The Bundala bird sanctuary, with more than 140 species of birds, is only 15 minutes away. Yala National Park is further away and is one of the best places to see a wide variety of Sri Lankan wildlife including the elusive leopard, elephants, sloth bear, sambur, spotted deer, wild boar, crocodiles, and monkeys.
