St Lachlan Hotel and Suites, to use its full name, is a small, mid-range hotel with high ambitions, nicely located down a quiet lane in Negombo close to Lewis Place with its hotels, wayside shops and small beach hut restaurants. The beaches are only a 10-minute walk away. Located just 20 minutes from the international airport, this is an ideal first or last stop on a holiday in Sri Lanka. The capital city of Colombo is about 75 minutes south.
Introduction
The changing face of Negombo, which is rapidly freeing itself from a reputation as solely a cheap tourist destination, is illustrated by the opening of St Lachlan. This 16-room hotel consists of two separate buildings that that are linked together by a central swimming pool. The hotel offers peaceful surroundings, well-appointed accommodation at competitive rates, and a restaurant that serves a range of Sri Lankan and western cuisine. St Lachlan is ideal for couples or individual travellers.

Accommodation
There are 16 spacious rooms and suites all with tastefully designed interiors. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, flat screen TV with satellite channels, tea/coffee facility, mini-bar, wifi internet, and safety locker. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w rain head showers.

Deluxe Rooms: The 10 deluxe rooms are furnished with king size beds, work desk, dresser, and lounge chairs.

Suites: Each of the six suites consists of a separate bedroom, living area opening out on to a small balcony, dining area and pantry.
Facilities
The main restaurant,Aria,serves Sri Lankan and western cuisine prepared with fresh seafood purchased directly from the local fisherman. The Aqua bar is smallish but appealing and serves a range of alcoholic beverages. There is also a spacious roof terrace where candlelit dinners are organisedupon request. Guests can also dine in the privacy of their own room or suite. There is a swimming pool with a pool deck. St Lachlan offers a butler service which comes in handy especially for those wanting to go on an excursion or spend a morning at the beach. Just inform the butler and he will make all arrangements including chilled beers and a picnic lunch.
Excursions
Ride on a catamaran as it sets sail in to the sunset or watch as these large traditional fishing boats come ashore with their days’ catch. Take a boat ride along the centuries old Dutch canals that winds through Negombo’s quaint town. Experience Negomob’s Colonial heritage including Catholic churches and the ruins of the Dutch Fort. Visit the harbour early morning to see the catamarans come ashore, filled with the night’s catch of numerous varieties of fish, prawns, crab and lobster. For those interested in nature and the wilderness, take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon - home to numerous species of birds and fish, dragon flies and monitor lizards.
