Stella Beach is a four-bedroom villa opening out to the spectacular Mirissa beach on Sri Lanka’s south coast. Opened in December 2010, the villa is on a two-acre estate with a 400 metre beach frontage. Mirissa is 40 kms south of Galle and 80 kms from the Yala National Park. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately five hours - or take the Air Taxi and fly to Koggala, which is about 30 minutes drive away from here.
Introduction
Stella Beach is a modern beach villa where living spaces merge seamlessly with the outdoors. The simple design of this villa consists of four bedrooms at the centre of the house opening out to a broad verandah that skirts right around opening out to the gardens strewn with swaying palms and the turquoise seas beyond. Living and dining all happens outdoors on the verandah or the pool deck. The interiors at Stella Beach are light and airy with whitewashed walls, polished cement floors, and slatted doors and windows that invite the refreshing ocean breeze.

The beach right in front of the villa is not suitable for swimming since there is a coral reef. Take a short stroll along the beach and you get to a safe swimming area as well as two surf points that attract many surfers from the world over. This is an ideal beach villa for families or friends travelling together. Stella Beach can accommodate up to eight guests and is rented on a villa-only basis.

Accommodation
There are four spacious a/c bedrooms – three doubles and one twin room furnished with four-poster beds dressed in fine white linen and fitted with mosquito netting. All rooms also have overhead fans.

Rooms 1 & 2: These two spacious double rooms are located in the front of the house and opens out to the swimming pool and sea beyond. These two bedrooms flow seamlessly into the ensuite bathrooms without any doorways making the bedrooms seem even more spacious and airy.

Rooms 3 & 4: This double and twin room is located at the rear and has interconnecting doors making these two rooms ideal for families. These two bedrooms open out to the side gardens and have spacious ensuite bathrooms with open air showers.
Facilities
The front verandah steps out on to the timber pool deck where hours can be spent taking in the tropical sun. There is a 20 metre swimming pool with a shallow end for children. A table in the verandah is good for dining, play a game of cards or even doing a bit of work, if you must. Other villa facilities include cable TV, DVD, iPod dock, day beds, sun loungers and sun umbrellas. Stella Beach has a manager, housekeeper and cook who prepare tasty Sri Lankan cuisine. The cook will also help to purchase your groceries. Accompany him to the village market to buy vegetables and other produce. Fresh seafood including crabs, prawns, and a wide variety of fish can be purchased directly from the local fisherman.
Excursions
Based at Mirissa Harbour, Mirissa Water Sports offers exciting water sports activities such as sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, sea kayaking, snorkeling and boating. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. We also recommend a visit to Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries, shops, restaurants and several boutique hotels.
